Default door latch problem

My drivers door handle stopped working suddenly, I have to reach in and open it from the inside. I had the door panel off and thought that the adjustable actuator rod might have come off but it was fine. I adjusted it to apply more movement to the lock assembly and this worked for about a week and now it doesnt open any more again, still works from the inside. Now it wont lock with the key, just pops back to the unlock position because it thinks a door is open.. I will have to set the post back to where it was to correct this.

Anybody know how to fix this, I think the problem is alignment of arms in the door mechanism but I can only see it well with a mirror and I don't know which part is not lining up...

I think your inner handle support is broken,
tape the handle outside to the door ( to hold it in place)
then remove the inner parts and replace the potmetal handle support

Nothing inside looks broken and it did work for a while after the adjustment, that's why I think it is something misaligned. Everything moves properly when handle is lifted, it just doesnt open the door latch. I would help if I knew which part you were referring to as well. I am not sure what you mean by inner handle support??

Inner Handle support.

The hinge that the painted outside lift up to open piece is bolted to. Very common failure - one end of the hinge breaks handle on the outside remains in the correct place but is loose at one end and won't open thedoor.

Try a search. Several how-to threads out there.

Very common failure and repair.
