Remember that they thought nobody would want AC AND sunroof, and since they envisioned most 928s sold with AC, they designed it without the sunroof in mind. It wasn't until later that they realized they'd have to offer a sunroof - which then took away about 2" of head room.

better intake
stiffer tabs on the intermediate plate. (bone head design)
wider frame, to fit the headers so engine could be removed WITH headers! and removal of headers with out dwarf hands and multiple arms.

Cup holders and side strip delete, that's it.

Sunroof delete.

The basic flaw I see with this discussion of imperfections is that if even a handful were magically corrected at the factory the cars would have much higher resale prices and many of us would not be able to afford them.

That's a good one. I'd settle for a simpler design. My motor works, but it won't release the hatch, and after all I've read about adjusting it all just right I think that will be the last thing I will try to fix on my car.

Too true. I worked at a multi-top-end-brand dealership in St Louis in the summer of 1990. The dealership sold Audi, BMW, Porsche, MB, RR/LR, Sterling (cough), Lexus, Infinity, and Cadillac. One of things I did was prep new cars for delivery, which required a lot of "intimate" cleaning and prepping, and I was struck by the shockingly crappy interior finishing of the Porsches compared to all those brands. In particular, Porsches had the most ill-fitting and poorly-secured carpeting of all of them, and by a wide margin. On a 911, I guess they could get away with that considering that 911 buyers would accept just about any non-performance shortcoming of the car. But on the flag-ship "luxury" $75k+ 928?? The Infinity G20s they sold had more solid interior finishing than the best Porsche.

+928!!! And the funny thing is, it took German auto engineers another 15 years to start getting them right - meaning built with fewer than 27 moving parts.

Just to add to what's been said in case Porsche is monitoring this for the "new 928"

Flush glass - especially the rear hatch
Recessed wipers
Projector beam headlamps (still want them in a pop-up)
Rear difuser
Front splitter
A nice cupholder

The carputer will probabaly take care of the rest of my "issues"

I would bet money that almost every American who complains about cup holders is slightly obese, and pre-diabetic. My cup holder is between my legs, and the best part is that it keeps my ***** cool in the summer.

+1 on a heater valve that defaults to the closed position.

Reinforcement of the fender lip around the wheel to prevent cracking.

Timing chain. Don't tell me stories of the timing chains on some of the older Mercedes Benz engines. It only proves that Mercedes has a long standing reputation for being substandard ****.

HVAC. Did they really have to run the hard lines so they'd pass within millimeters on the engine? Why did they make it so the hose connections on the compressor are totally inaccessible with the compressor and air pump in place?

"S" spoiler is made out of Styrofoam. WTF? Even the ****tiest Hyundai's driven by every hood rat and his "baby-mama" in the late 80s didn't use f*cking Styrofoam for exterior trim. The fact that they used that **** on the 928, 944, and 911 tells me that the German people got what they deserved during their summer of passion, romance, and wild orgies with the Red Army in 1945.

Drain for the rear hatch lower corners

Proper cabin venting so that the recirc flap doesn't bounce when you shut the doors

I am not even sure what to say to that, except nobody deserved to be raped and killed.
