Default What design changes would you like to see on your 928?

Simple enough question.

While my first one is not a design change I would love for mine to have lighter steering, every one I have ever driven has been heavy.

The second one is a design and may just be a personal preference, but I really do not like the way the throttle pedal is bolted to the floor, I much prefer a "Floating" type that can vary the angle your foot is, like on a Corvette.

They could have done a better job with the pod, while having the whole pod move is ok, it begs for a telescopic steering wheel that moves in and out with the stalk switches.

On the engine of a 87+, who's bright idea was it to bury the IAC and TPS?

Those are my biggest ones, I have a plan for the IAC and TPS, a TS will take care of that.

I have no idea what to do with the steering wheel, but I am going to change the throttle pedal at some point, it is just not comfortable on long trips, and yes i know you can move it back and forth, but it still is bolted to the floor.

On the plus side, I think that the carputer is going to solve many issues and is one of the best ideas to come since i have been here.

Normally-closed heater control valve so the airbox doesn't heat soak so badly when parked warm or even left in warm sunlight.

Cable shifting.

Serpentine accessory belt.

I am going to install one of Nicoles led kits in mine, see if that helps, but they are a bit dim, especially the temp gauge on mine being way over in the left corner.

Surely this is down to the setup. Correct tyres, tyre pressure and a decent wheel alignment should aleviate the heaviness you're experiencing?

+1! Almost impossible to Heel & Toe with the curruent setup.

+1. I'd like to get rid of the pod altogether and replace it with an F1 LCD/LED style 'floating' instrument cluster and yes, udjustable steering a must.

EDIT: Something like this? (without the chrome of course!)

Click the picture for a link to the website.

Some excellent points! Keep it up!

Here's my list

- Revised exterior to eliminate the black trim which wears/turns white with time.

- Progressive power steering to make slower driving more enjoyable (for us folks that are stuck driving these cars at lower speeds

- Vinyl that doesn't crack!

- Trim that doesn't warp

- Same design wheels but in 18/19" Size

- More Power!

- Lighter Clutch with smoother shifting

All of you steering criticizers - you should try a 91 or later car some time.

I seem to remember a certain 91 owner talking about all the trouble with her cars steering.

Steering trouble? The only trouble I had was getting the right replacement rack when the original one leaked badly. Otherwise I have never had any steering trouble or critizism, did I?

A non-self-destructing interior would have been great.

For a top-of-the-line car, they sure used crappy materials for the inside!

Other than that, I think it's a great machine. Simple yet complex, at the same time. And you can work on it yourself.,

- recessed windshield wipers
- flush glass
- more integrated front-to-rear center console (the 3 different consoles looks "klugey")
- solenoid operated HVAC actuators
- better isolation btw the rear susp./trans carrier and chassis.

But it wasn't a design issue - it was an issue with getting the correct replacement part. Apparently, ZF - the company that made these steering racks - is not aware of the difference between the early and late style racks.
