4.7E or 5L hybrid...... Choices choices
So i just got my 4.7 in from BC (thanks man) and i am going to to start taking it apart and get her cleaned up and see what i have to deal with. My plans for this motor is a Tec GT engine management system and more then likely a SC of some kind. i plan on making it a fun and pleasurable car to drive, even some autocross, but i wont be drag'd or takin it up the pikes peak race (Carl has that covered).
so here is my list to start.
New oil pan (this one is trashed) what is the best pan? OB or GT?
Pan spacer
possibly a windage tray and crank scraper
New head studs
heads worked, new valves and springs (one head has a heli coil, not sure on that)
engine seal kit (silicone gaskets where avalible)
re oil pump (better one out there?)
Pork's tensioner
Any input or ideas for me would be great. i like to make lists of what i need so i have a battle plan.

I have another oil pan. I did not intend to send you one that was not usable. I can ship that to you

Get the rods resized and rebushed. New rod bolts. Clean the pistons in berryman's. New rings. Possibly coat the skirts, but not a big deal. If you coat the skirts, get the bores relapped (NOT rehoned) but GB may differ from me, and if he says it, stick with what he says.

so i was able to get up early before the wife got up, and got all the studs out, pan off and oil pump out. The studs came out easy with the double nut method. my neighbor is going to come over tonight and watch/help me take out the pistons and crank. what size star socket do you need to the fly wheel off?

Its from the coolant. If it had a metal impeller maybe on the water pump? You'll want to Get that thing cleaned really well first after you disassemble. I had another one like that and it all just sort of washed off eventually.

I want to say the flywheel bolts are 12 point male? You have to counterhold the flywheel. You want to get a good hold on them and not strip them. Maybe pretreat with pb or something. I see you got the studs out - good.

Flywheel bolts are 12mm XZN/12 point/triplesquare. If you don't have the bit many local auto parts stores have a 4 pack of 6/8/10/12 mm XZN bits that you can chuck up in a (IIRC) 1/2" socket for use.

ya im going to get the block and cradle to the engine shop to get cleaned up and checked this week. when you mean resize the rods, you mean for bigger bearings, as in oversize?
