Default Hot Start Problem

90 S4 54 K miles all new ignition components & O2 sensor
I changed the Temp 2 sensor thinking that would do it but it didn't.
When started stone cold it lights right off and goes to a nice idel, and
drives just fine.
Turn it off for 30 + minutes and its hard to restart, stumbles and miss's
then after a few minutes it clear its self up and drives fine.
As soon as it starts (warm & poorly) it flashes a message on the instrument
cluster, ( Save Power -- Service )
What do you guys think it could be ?
Thanks,
Joe

The save power message is because the rps are too low, so it thinks the alt isn't working. I think the issue is still the temp II. I would check Temp II values at the LH/EZK. Might also check for continuity and maybe try putting a load through the temp II wiring from the sensor to the LH/EZK connectors.

Does the injection on the 928 have an accumulator?

I was hoping you'd have an easier way to check it but I guess your right ..
The sensor is new and I checked the plug connection to it and the wire to
the plug, all's well at that end. Guess I need to start at the other end and
work back from there, damn .. I'm supprised you didn't say (leaky injector)
not that I wanted to hear that either can't you come up with a fast cheap
easy fix, buddy !?

Not on the year in question.

Sorry bro. One other thing to check is the resistance between the body of the Temp II and the chassis. I had an issue from teh powdercoating on the waterbridge that prevented a good ground for the Temp II. I made a mini ground wire for it and all was well.

remove the aircleaner after the car it hot then pull off the vacuum lines to each damper and the FPR see if you smell gas if so it would be wise to replace all of the parts both dampers and the FPR.
If this isnt the problem then i would suggest that you fit new injectors with the 4 hole tips

What kind of sealant did you use when you installed the new Temp II? I have had Teflon thread tape interfere with proper grounding in industrial settings.

Mrmerlin, good advice, that sounds like a good weekend project.
Are you thinking its not a Temp 2 issue ?

You shouldn't need any sealant on the Temp II. The crush washer should seal it.

mine did the same problem, it was a bad fuel leak from a fuel dampener in to the intake, basically it flooded it. i dont think yours has a dampener...

It has two dampners. One on the front and one at the driver-side rear.
