and a 4 door salon is like a 2 door hatchback why exactly? because it has a V8 in the front?

I'm going to be bad and opt in before reading the whole thread..stand by for possible delete...Depending on how fixated you are on nameplate, my GTO has some commonalities in terms of the way it drives.
No hatchback or weissach axle, but I suspect more bottom end torque and possibly more area under the curve overall (would be the case with '05/06 LS2 GTOs for sure), rides very well and very solid. Similar basic cabin design..except there is some legroom in the rear buckets and the seats have GTO embroidery...they are also depreciated and represent a good buy.
But yes, concede the point in advance that the GTO body lines/styling fails to impress. But like 928s, bolt on roots blowers are readily available to mitigate that..
And after having read through- good point on the transaxle. Speaking of which, 6 spd in the manual GTO.
Don't concur that the 8 series rides or drives similarly.
Definitely don't concur that the asian options ride or drive similarly.
Hey, prior to having one, i would not have spoken very highly of the GTO. Having lived with and enjoyed one for over a year...I'm impressed. Slightly different shape and less of the throwback badging/spoiler, and it would have been regarded entirely differently.

Never seen a roots blown 928 in person, but I think a few exist with intakes sticking through the hood. Most around here I believe, are either centrifugal or twin screw.
Some look somewhat like a 928, some drive somewhat like a 928, some have similar dimensions, but let’s face it… there really isn’t any substitute for those hooked on 928’s.

I saw a 2nd generation RX-7 the other day, I gotta say it sure LOOKED like a baby 928. The side window/b-pillar shapes are really close.

Friend of mine is into the GTOs. He wants a 928 after just riding in mine and seeing and hearing it at the autocrosses. Said he didn't want to drive it because he had too many GTOs right now and couldn't afford a 928 yet. He had a blower on his GTO, but like a lot of firebird and camaro owners took it off.
