Hi Mike:
I will ask the mechanic if there was oil in the coolant and hopefully I will get a straight answer.
The car did heat up a bit when sitting in slow traffic but when I mentioned it to the mechanic he said that possible the electric fans weren't kicking on.
So maybe this scenario is making more sense.
Thanks,
Gary

I have had enough oil dump out of a 928 engine in less than a minute that it no longer showed on the dipstick. The front main crankshaft seal was pushed out due to unknown causes. I started it and let it warm up, no problems. I backed out of the driveway and took it on a two or three block test run. I turned around and headed back for home. As I approached the house I noticed lots of smoke. I killed the engine and coasted back into the driveway. There was an oil path all the way down the street, around the corner, around the next corner and down that street too.
If this happened on your engine, the builder may not have seen it since that seal is behind the harmonic balancer and out of view. But I still can't imagine you losing that amount of oil on a racetrack and no other drivers or corner workers noticing. Wouldn't that cause some concern for the safety of other drivers?

Hi Fabio:
That is an interesting idea.
That is the confusing part, if I was on a road and didn't notice the oil flowing out but I was on a track with corner workers and other drivers, unless it happened so suddenly that nobody had a chance to flag me.
Thanks,
Gary

Trust me - if this was a sudden occurrence, you would not miss it. 6 quarts is just over a gallon IIRC. Throw a gallon of oil out of an engine, (or through an engine) in a short period of time and Russian satellites will go on alert because they will think we launched at least a few ICBMs from beneath the racetrack.
