Value of my 928 for a private sale....
I was approached by an individual to purchace my 928. Off the cuff I told the person it would be in the 12,500 to 15,000 if I were to sell it. I have put alot of work into the car and it have been gone over fom stem to stern.
So I would like to inlist the 928 Gods with their input....

1. Rebuilt motor down to powder coating and all new stainless hardware,
new braided CIS lines, Custom dual fans, Jet hot coated headers and 3" exhaust, all hoses replaced, ect.
2. Complete repaint and custom Body work. Lighting converted back to euro standards down to euro H-4 headlights.
3. Full leather interior: rear qtrs repaired from warping and leather replaced. door panel recovered. Custom Audio system, Navi., center console, DVD, and Sub./amp cargo area panel .
4. Brake system rebuilt, calipers refinished, New axle boots, all suspention parts glass beaded and clear coated. new front lower ball joints. New tires

David,
Your car has been one of my favorites ever since I saw the work you were doing on it years ago in your garage. Your attention to detail is amazing and the car is one of a kind.
If you were to add in the development time and labor for all of the custom work you've done you would easily be over $20k and no one that even tried to emulate it could do it for less even though you've shown how to do it all.
I have no idea how I'd price a car like that, it would be like trying to put a price on several years of your life, which is what it really represents.
Feet to the fire, if I had to name a number? It would definitely not be less than $15k.

You really have a "custom" car. Seems professionally done including and especially the bodywork, which if true would be a major value indicator. Depends a lot on that.

Any custom car is going to be harder to sell because you have to find someone with similar tastes. Some will like it, some won't. If you're thinking about selling and find someone who likes it and has the money, probably a good idea to jump because the next buyer might be hard to find. Figure a really nice stock euro S is worth $8-12k depending on lots of things, and work from there. Unfortunately customization rarely adds value, so it's really up to the seller and the buyer.

It's hard to judge because there is alot of "rough" cars outh there.
PS..Mike if you are around this summer take a brake from the Shore and head up to my car show on 8/22 ( Sunday ) I will post details shortly.

David, Where did you find that right hand drive engine? A lot of good advice here already. Let the buyer know all the work and what you have in it and let him make you an offer. If he is really excited about your car he could surprise you with a great offer. If he comes in above your ballpark number great. That way you will eliminate the possibility of asking less than what he is willing to spend. If he's low you'll have a point where you can start to negotiate. I'd also consider the next project you have in mind and what kind of numbers it needs. As stated above there are not many reference points for determining the value of all your custom work.

David: re engine bay pic: you moved everything from right side of engine to left and visa versa?? That's got to be worth $15K at least.
Gorgeous project. You un-federalized it and removed smog pump??? I wonder if some states will give buyer a hard time?? No mention of what hp it has after changes, dyno info would help. I think a buyer might want to know what this beautiful engine produces.
Original body lines are disrupted. IMHO, overall you have narrowed the market for an older car, but work is first rate: $15K is possible.

YES, Un-federalized..No smog pump, no cats, no Bosch add-on closed loop. The interested buyer is here in PA. Put classic tags on it and there is no Emission cert. I have plans to have it dyno'd just been way to crazy to have it
run..I am interested to know as well..

I missed the one last year, I think it was the same weekend we were doing our Sharks at the Shore, but I remember trying to work it in. I'll definitely watch for it this year.
I need to get to the dyno soon too. Maybe we can set up a dyno day and get a group rate? I'll check with the local guy we went to here and see what it would take to get a deal. Or else let me know if you have a place by you and I'll make the trip up.
Let me know.
PS- Will you still host the GTG if you sell this car?

Might be a little tight this year. Wife has been out of work all year. All the extra cash has been going towards my store. The money gets put in the "project"
fund !!! or maybe 2 !!
Definitly into a dyno session though. I should have had it done at the last Fabspeed CC when they ran a few cars but i was pressed for time

How is your project coming. I tried to touch base with you a week or so ago for an update..
