Good stuff, glad you didn't jump the belt. I guess time for a PKtensioner and all the other goodies!

I just installed a Porkentensioner and a Gates Racing T Belt from Roger at 928sRus and that is my only issue w/it, no more warning light.
Good save, I have seen some try to make it home, and they pay BIG $ for trying

Well done!

Got her back home. Gaugeman69 (Rod) lent me his car trailer and with my brother's Liberty, we managed to winch it up onto the traielr and safely bring the car home. Got eaten alive by mosquitoes but otherwise it went like clockwork. Took an hour and halft to load it up and tie it down (by the rims) but got lucky as the the off ramp didnt; have any traffic (less than a doezn cars in 90 min). Got the ball rolling as soon as I got home at 5:00pm (had to re wire the Liberty as the existing tail light converter was fried), then went to Rod's to pick up the trailer, followed by a 70km drive to get to the car. By the time the time the car was home it was a few min. past midnight.

It was very tempting to fire ud the engine and just drive it up the trailer, instead of speding and hour getting it all ready to winch it, but resisted it, and after donating a pint of blood to the local skeeters, all wheels were up on the trailer.

I'm just winding down from an eventful day and I think it's time to get some sleep.

Oh, that I continue to live these adventures vicariously.

What you may find...as found recently by another local 928'er - zero damage to the engine internals despite a "welded" belt with a dozen or so sheared teeth.

You could have called. A few of us could have eliminated the need for the winch and got it on the trailer a lot faster.....

Hmmm that never occured to me but I don't think we couldn't have pushed it up without damaging the bumper.

I used the tow eyelet and it worked liek a charm. Had a buddy come with me to sit in it while it was being pulled up and it worked like a dream.
I'm heading out to start taking the engine apart. Will report back with the findings.

Well here it is.......... looks worse than I thought. The pump is sized, but it did move a little while I was getting the crank to TDC to check the cam timings. Passanger cam timing was perfect, driver side off 1 totth. Now I don't know if the belt jumped (the teeth so far look perfect) or the failed pump bearing has so much play that the belt is loose enough to show 1 tooth out. The belt was loose when I pulled the passenger cover but not loose enough to make me think it jumped.

Thats a lucky catch, I hope there isnt any damage to the block.
But you will damage the 1 inch hose by keeping it crimped like that,
the internal strands will get loose then the hose will blow out ,
better to just remove it

You are right...... it's coming off as soon as I drain the coolant. I hoping for no, or minimal, block damage too.

Fingers crossed for a good outcome.

Nice decisionmaking on the shut-down.

I was thinking the same thing. Without the tensioner warning, this probably would have ended very badly.

Assuming he wouldn't have noticed the temperature climbing, or the temp warning light.

I don't think one tooth should be a problem. Looks a lot better than what we found as shown partially in my previous post.
