Same reason you can't get a great piece of A$% for $20. Unless its a prior to 86 model, a good 5 speed should be in the 9-15k range.

Keep looking. And adjust your sense of "good" to what your budget can afford.

Also look nationally. Not sure where you're at but CA and FL have cheaper Porsches.

That was a STEALLLLLLLLLLLL.................
An S model is doeable, just be patient. The problem is the lack of 5-speeds all together, then with the low price point many 5-speeds get picked up by some dumb kids and thrashed.

Also, shipping is cheaper than you think. Look where many listers are, we will check the car out for you. I bet its about $500ish to ship to you from California or Florida... If you look in SD or close, hit me up and I will give you a full rundown on it. Or you can set up a PPI if it looks okay to me, etc... Im sure others will help too.

I think it may be easier to find more money than it is to find a bargain price on a nice 5 spd. The whole save money up front when buying a 928 tends to be a losing proposition.

Brian,
What was the disposition of the wreck? Did you buy-back? I need a G28-08 gearbox pretty badly.

Good ones don't sell that often and when they do, few of those are 5 speeds and not many of those will go for that price. I know I wouldn't let mine go for that.

Brian you have to be ready to pull the trigger. I hesitated before I purchase mine and missed two cars.

The good ones priced right or below market sell the same day or the next. One will come up. Have the CASH ready, get a few RL guys involved and have them give you their take on it. If its a decent buy jump on it.

break out your wallet. Better yet, buy a "cheap" 5 speed and see how it goes...
