Default 95 GTS, 5 speed, No Racers!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...item2eae48f122

Ad stipulates, "No racers, please." I guess he wants you to sign a restrictive covenant. JK. Somebody buy it and then call him and say, "nyaa, nyaa, I raced it, but I'll never do it again."

Looks pretty nice.

It's a hot rodded GTS. I like hot rodded GTS's, factory originals not so much.

This car IMO should be compared with other hot-rodded 5-speed GTS's, both to see really how nice it is, how well it is hot rodded, and whether the price is in line.

Does look nice, and it's even visited Willhoit's driveway.

Who is Howard Wright, a 'legendary 928 authority'? Part of my 928 knowledge appears to be missing.

I never get why a car with 67000 miles needs a $22000 engine rebuild??

I wonder if the engine work was TBF prevention or failure (?)

I was thinking the same thing..."that looks like MW house." Then I saw it was in Hotlanta and figured he might be the second owner but got it from MW.

I agree the LEGENDARY builder Howard Wright...Hmmm...Who the HELL IS THAT?!

67k miles is nothing to write home about on a '95 GTS either. Then I saw the BIN, $70k...nearly fell out of my wheelchair!

Not familiar with the car, but I do know Howard.
- Factory Trained.
- Has worked on 928's (and other Porsche models and other Euro imports) most of his life. Knows 928's in and out. Has the books and factory tools.
- Careful, fastidious, skilled and honest tech.
- He rebuilds our steering racks. He has the machines, tools, parts and connections to do it right.
- Highly recommended.

Bet the engine was rebuilt due to the ol' GTS oil burning thing. I currently like my hot rodded 94 GTS with 59K enough that my BIN price would be over $70K. In fact, I've stated several times it would take $80K to make me a previous owner.

RKD, I agree with you...but if you are ACTUALLY trying to sell the a GTS (even a 5spd) with >65k miles I think even $60k is WAY out of line. Maybe he does not want to sell the car really anyway...

Wally, I guess Howard IS legendary after all! NICE to know!

Well, with the Wilhoit connection, he is obviously taking his lead from MW. It is a 5-speed and he has added some performance, not really sure what. But then I find it a little essholy to put in the "No racer" comment. That's kinda like the lap dance syndrome: I can touch you, but you can't touch me. Was it stepson who posted on RW about not wanting to sell to a someone who might not take the best care of his baby. How's he gonna keep you from racing? Is 5 mph over the limit OK???

Here we go cutting, cutting, cutting. We do this when the ads are squirrely.

Just because someone is smart enough to own a 928 doesn't mean they have any idea how to sell it. When I sold my 90GT I built a web site for it then did an autotrader ad that just listed the general stuff about the car with a link to the web page for more info if insterested, here's the page I made.

Instead of speculating about why the motor was redone why doesn't someone who wants to know contact the seller and ask him? You guys are great about tearing down cars you know nothing about...... The facts as you know them do not support comments like I've read so far..... Who knows, maybe this guy just wanted to build it with some performance parts? Maybe there was nothing wrong with it at all?

I know he bought the car from MW when it had about 10-12k miles and the first owner was in Louisville or Lexington, KY. The first owner did track the car a couple times or at least that's what he told me when I spoke to him about 10 years ago. The pics in the seller's auction are all pretty old as I think I have most of them on my website already.

As for his comment about not wanting to sell it to a racer..... so what? He loves the car and doesn't want it to go to someone who will trash it although I think the price alone will rule out most who would want to do that to it......
