Crank end play at 288k
I’ve had the car for 3 years and all though I’ve released the flexplate a couple of times but I’ve never checked the crank end play, I bought a mag mount and dial gauge a year ago but kept putting it off, today I got under and set to, I had intended to take some pictures but my camera batteries had other ideas.
I removed the lower bell housing, released the flexplate, no movement since last year, then set up the dial gauge and levered the flywheel back and forth, movement was a tad under 0.007” with an low audible clunk both ways, I double and triple checked etc, still less than 0.007”, I was very relived seeing that the engine has 288k miles on it, I have a pile of invoices and hand written history from 65k by PO’s but no where is flexplate mentioned, it had a rebuilt TT at 187k so must have been released once.

Nice to hear. I've got a ways to go before I reach 288K, but I'm getting there, and the endplay has not changed since I first checked it 100K miles ago.
