Anybody have a pic of the right side of the CEL footwell board for a 87-91? I see there are two spots for some type of retainer to hold the rear edge of the DME/EZK cover but both mine are broken off with just the plastic left in the holes in the foot board.
TIA

Mike-
On my car, the EZK and LH brains mount with the steel mounting bracket sandwiiched between them. The forward end of that steel braket has a single 'finger' sticking out that fits into a hole to the right of the CE panel face board. Two allen capscrews hold the bracket to the side panel in the footwell. No pics handy. The 'cover' over the assemby there is a bit of stiff insulation, cut to fit around the pieces and cover the rear and the inside (towards the passenger's feet) of the controler assembly. Then there's a section of the footwell carpet that covers that insulation/padding, said carpet secured with a short strap that has a snap on it from the right side behind (to the rear of the car...) the assembly.
I'm not clear on what part you think you are missing.

Sorry, no picture. I also have a 90' S4.
They are just two flexible plastic pins that stick through the floor carpet piece and out by about 3/4". Nothing special. No reason for them to break off. Like you say, they just hold the carpet in place and foot of the EZK/LH controller cover, while the other side of the cover is attached with one plastic twist screw.
You could make somthing similar out of just some hardware, like threaded aluminum standoffs, washers and screws.

Thanks Borland. My gut said it was just two plastic pins that had been broken off of the CE cover board. I am going to the BIG BOX to get some contact cement and other goodies this weekend. I'll take a look at the big hardware bins and come up with something.

Auto hardware places will probably have something suitable - just black plastic friction fit slightly ribbed with a flattend dome end (you probably still have that part). A little flexible is good so they don't break off too easily.
However - a steel bolt with a thin retaining nut would work OK too...
