However, now that my wife is considering her own 928, red is back on the list. Wow, how PC was that?

One of those is mine (the stan shaw euro fendered car), one is my wife's.
Both cars were rescues, btw. When others tire of red, I takeover.

But there IS a concern I have about red... My first job after high school was at an Autohaus with body and paint shop. The paint master tech pointed out that many red and burgundy cars we got in had faded paint - many more than other colors. He explained that these colors have trouble absorbing the UV light, and therefore fade more quickly. Of course, you can counteract this with proper care, but it will take more of it than cars of other colors.

I ignored his advice once, buying a burgundy metallic Ford Probe. And yes, this became the most faded car I've ever had.

Keep that red shiny, and you have a beautiful car to enjoy!
According to my artist/designer son, this is true. Red is the first color of the palette to fade.

Nonetheless, it's smokin' hot!

And Guards Red isn't just red, it's RED

Better than Ferrari red IMO.

If past studies are correct, red cars get pulled over more than other colors. Whether that means it's the color of the car, or that folks that like red are more aggressive drivers, no one knows. But I don't think I changed my driving habits the three years that I had a red car, and I got pulled over A LOT, with a couple tickets (thanks to the local friends that visit the e.r.'s that gave me PBA cards, I avoided most). I went back to dull colors, thank you, I learned my lesson. Besides, i can't see the outside much when I'm driving anyway, and that's why I bought the car, not to look at it.

Red is the only proper color for an auto. That goes for the 928 as well.

Red 928GT
Red 928S
Red Ferrari Mondial
Red Lamborghini Espada
Red Studebaker Avanti
Red Beech Bonanza

The 928, in my opinion, is such a joy to behold from so many different angles and in so many different colors, red included.

I don't get it. And I love my red car.

Just looking for some enlightenment.
You know I think the GTS is particularly attractive in Guards Red! I like them and you really don't see a whole lot of them around in that color. Of course you really don't see a lot of GTS's anyway...

I am not a big fan of the S4's in red...I like the OB's in red. In fact the S4 in red is my least fav of all 4 body styles in that color....

It may be to overt or flashy for some though!

And, no, I didn't search for a brown Porsche. Just came that way on the Euro 5spd I wanted. Badly!

In the mid to late 70's, 80's and early 90's ,if it wasn't guards red or black, you couldn't sell it !! In todays world all colors sell .. I like Guards Red in all Porsches but it seems alot of people want to be under the radar and don't want to be noticed as much, so they pick the silvers, grays, blues etc..so they can still have the Porsche of their choice to enjoy and drive..A++++ to Guards Red for me..

Love velvet red, but I don't think it is quite the red being talked about here...

Velvet and Ruby are close and I love them both! Arena red too!
