Why is red considered undesirable by so many?

Red, Black, and White seem to be Porsche's most popular colors at least what they said recently in a program showing the 911 being manufactured....It's all about personal preference!

Had a Guards Red 90 GT. Morning after a fresh wax job got pulled over twice within 3 miles of each other and I wasn't doing anything wrong. Accused me of changing lanes aggressively and I had not changed lanes at all. Figured it was so shiney red they just couldn't stop themselves from pulling me over. No tickets.

Red+Radar Detector is the only way to go.
Trust me, I've gotten more tickets in my "Arrest-me-red" 928 than any other car. Of course, it could be that I drive faster in the Porsche..... hmmmm. Na, that couldn't be it!

After spending way too much time doing meet-and-greets with officers and judges earlier in life, I decided that less outstanding colors, aural assaults and blatant driving would all contribute to my long-term well being. No more red, speed yellow, or orange. Silver, grey, other neutral colors are fine I'm sure. I choose black, and have since the mid '70's. There was a short period (less than a year) when my DD was -not- black, but that myth about white not needing to be cleaned as much as black is, well, a myth. And if I'm going to go through all that trouble, it really just might as well be black. Red has about the same WOW factor as black, but takes a lot of care to keep it fading evenly. Modern paints are much better at maintaining color these days, so a modern red would be OK, except for the part about the judges.
I drove a nice red 928 recently, and din't meet any judges as a direct result. But it needed to go home to James in Texas. I'm back to just plain old black again. Black really is my favorite car color.

Red cars do attract attention. My first sports car was a red Alfa spider, but when it was time for a 928 one of my basic requirements was no red or black cars. Red cars get too many tickets, and black cars are too hot in the Calif sun. Grand Prix white is the color I picked when I bought a new Porsche, but with used ones it was clear early on that color needed to be balanced with what was available in nicer cars.
Red 928's do make good parts cars.

I absolutely LOVE guards red on a 928. I like the ability of a black car to be unnoticed as I don't intend to drive too slow and hate tickets...
I would kill to have an original paint single stage guards red 928...

I like all different colors on the 928 and have many favorites, some colors seem to give the car different qualities - black = badass: meteor=classy: midnight blue=rich: many more nice colors, and red. Red looks great when new and shiny, but a lot of the older red cars do not fare well.
I do remember reading something once about the paint additives were different or something regarding red. Seriously. Anyway there was/is a guy on pelican whose father paints cars and painted his 928 red recently and that paint looked great. Red is a color that really needs to pop to be good, maybe because its flat and not metallic?

I love Guards Red, my 90 GT makes the 4th 928 I've owned - all Guards Red, in a bit of a rut I guess. Black is beautiful when clean/polished but after owning a black car I decided I'm too old to keep it clean. Whenever I attend a 928 gathering I love the unique colors that aren't so common as black, red or silver but I still personally find red a stunning, exciting color on the 928.

I still keep my eyes open for a manual, no-sunroof, digital-dash, non-black/red RHD car, but only 24 of them were ever produced globally in any colour, including my red one. Yes, 24 total between 1989 and 1995.. sigh.
