You wash one long enough nd the gold plating will come off, under it it's all silver. That why mine is silver now.

The local Porsh dealer sells them for somewhat around $180. That's for one.

In the beginning, before i had kids, i might had washed and waxed my cars enough erode of the gold plating.

I used to see these for sale everwhere and i bought one used for probably $45 or 50 bucks shipped to my house just last year. I can't find them on-line. I was wondering if they were discontinued by Porsche. Heck i could purchase a gold one or take mine and have it silver plated for less than 180....maybe.

thanks for the info guys.. I just can't see paying dealer price.

Wow Nicole, you are up early for CA folk. Is it 6 am ?

They're spendy for sure. I've lusted after one for a long time, but cannot justify it.

i guess i should have kept my last one. I always let things go with the cars i have sold.

I might go to a jewelry store and ask them how much they would charge to silver plate an emblem. I can't imagine it being astronomical.

I need a front DS fog light lens, i can't see paying 200 bucks for it either. I guess i am used to 911 prices.

On my 94 GTS hood badge it is gold except for the Stutgart shield which is silver. At the last car show I was at I noticed all the other original Porsches in the same year model range had the same silver shield on the gold badge.

I would think that buying a homely looking colored one off eBay, stripping it, spraying it with some Testor's silver, and sealing it would be far less than $180 and more fun

90GT emblem, pretty sure it's original. Looks identical to the one listed on Pelican (and PET) as 901.559.210.20:

93GTS emblem. Car's been repainted so not sure it's original, but it looks like only the center was gold and the rest was/is silver (?)

Discussion on what you get if you buy a new one these days:

Jagger is placed on with a sticker. I want an emblem close to the oem size and mounting style. I appreciate the find, but not exactly what i am looking for...

thanks for posting your pictures. I do like the GT style.

Only use the Porsche gasket - the OEM ones are to small and need to be stretched.
