I agree you should place it on autotrader and car.com in addition to ebay. Between the three of those virtually all serious buyers should see it. I found my GTS on autotrader and it had been there for a while, just waiting for the right buyer. I think $35K is a fair price for a car as exclusive and nice as yours, and it will sell for that, just be patient. Take a page from Wilhoit - state the facts of the car simply and nice pics and the car will sell itself when the right buyer happens upon it. Good luck with the sale!

dont bother with putting that offer on Ebay
I dont think the plane ticket would hold anyone back. There are bigger pitfalls to flying out to see a car than the cost of the ticket. Like scheduling and time. A $500 plane ticket isnt what stands in the way of this car being sold.
BE PATIENT
Its a very unique car and in my experience the price isnt the issue either. If it were $30K or $35K that wont change anything. To the person who your seeking to sell to $5,000 wont make a difference between a sale and non sale. If they want the car, they will pay the price your asking.
BE PATIENT!

IMO, the right buyer for this car is one who has a passion for 928's and will immediately recognize and appreciate your car for what it is. This buyer won't mess around over a plane ticket or a few grand on the asking price. He or she will consider themselves extremely fortunate to have found such a perfect example of the marque, and will simply open their checkbook and gladly pay you.
Your task is to get your car in front of this person, and eBay is probably the best place to start.

I'd delete that post (any savvy potential buyer will google for the VIN to make sure it wasn't recently sold for flipping, and bring up rennlist).
If you're serious about selling, advertise it more. You've already got the text and photo's, so it can't be more than another 2 hours max to post it up on the other high-traffic sites.
(happy to edit this post if you remove the price reduction stuff, so its not visible )

Thanks again for all the replies guys. I'm putting it on Autotrader tonight.
Went and looked at the Spyder again today and talked to the dealer a bit. I have much more time than I expected to sell the car. Things are going really well at work too so it looks like all will fall into place as planned.
My bottom line is posted so if anyone stumbles upon this thread, you know what it is.

Tass would be the perfect owner for tons of reasons. Having seen his cars I know he's as meticulous as I am about them. The car would be in the "perfect" garage amongst other unique 928's and the interior/exterior would stay as perfect as they are now since it won't see temperature extremes. Most importantly, it would give me the opportunity to see the car occasionally and I could even help keep it looking its best (no charge of course). I imagine he would have to let one of his babies go to make room which could make it difficult. Not that I'm trying to convince him or anything.

Do You have the Dealer PDI sheet? or the stamp of PDI in the Warranty Manual as I worked at Zipper Porsche Back then ...
What a small world that your 928 came from Zipper as they ordered a LOT of Loaded cars with paint and leather to sample ...
Cant believe that you want the Spyder ..Without driving one first
I Have only ordered one car sight unseen my 1989 Speedster
Took a chance and It was SWEET...Hope the Spyder works for You!
Does the 928 poster go with the sale?
GLWS!

The book does have a few of the dealer stamps in it but have to look again to see if it was from Zipper or another dealer. Unfortunately I don't have any of the actual PDI sheets from the first owner.
I didn't know you worked at Zipper, very small world indeed. What happened to them?
I did test drive the Spyder and I've seen it a half a dozen times. It is an awesome car! If I was living in SoCal I probably wouldn't be selling the 928, but around here we just don't have the right kind of roads for a high speed GT like the 928.
928 Poster can go with the car if the new owner really wants it, otherwise it stays hanging in the garage!

Here's a shot of the cover for reference.
