IIRC the solid MM's sold by 928 MS are actually hydraulic. I have seen a few sets supplied to local customers and they slosh when shaken. Any Corteco/Anchor Ford MM's are subject to collapse so I would not use them after all the problems with the last few batches.
I hope they are testing them before they sell them.

Porsche did a lot of consulting to Ford on NVH issues in the trucks, and the Ford hydraulic mount is one of the fruits of that collaboration. Likely that relationship and experience spilled over to Ford's Volvo division, hence the hydraulic Volvo mounts that look a lot like 928 mounts. The challenge of course is that Ford, like many other companies, offers the production-part supply out to the low qualified bidder. Once that bidder is successful, the only way for them to make any serious money is to manufacture them at lowest possible cost. Final manufacturer may not have the same specs or QC as the OEM supplier, and of course the aftermarket is a giant CF where low price is king and quality not so important.

Finding a non-oem, non-specialty piece is always a challenge, and finding one that's consistently good may be an even bigger challenge, even after finding an OEM piece that seems perfect.

Guinea Pigs of the Volvo mounts (GPoVM): Report back in a year and 10k miles. By then, most of the possible leaks and breakdowns in internal structure should have shown up. Lots of us have our fingers crossed!

You could almost just look at a B234 wrong and bend valves.
I never knew that Porsche had a hand in it.

Some aspects of the Volvo B234 head design are really dumb, and I am surprised that Porsche would make them that way. Maybe they did it on purpose to sabotage them . Those are not to be confused with SAAB B234 engines though, the early ones are quite good.

I thought mine were solid. Whatever they are, the fit doesn't impress me. Since I've the orange oil pan gasket, changing those mounts for ones that fit is no big deal.

Default 2 months later - volvo mounts

Here's what my engine is sitting like after the DFW crew changed them out for the new volvo mounts. Pretty good to my eyes and butt.

Can these Volvo mounts be used on a 1980 4.7L to replace the old style mounts? Or does the crossmember need to be changed too? I've seen conflicting info about changing the crossmember required.

to use these newer mounts you have to change the crossmember to the newer version.
NOTE the older type MMs dont seem to fail like the newer style does, so you can leave them alone.
Post a picture of your oil pan to lower cross member if its hanging down or resting on the cross member then you may need new older style mounts

Could be mid year, but I see 78/82 and 83/95.
