Maybe I have been doing it for so long I no longer get angry at a thing, just myself.

I spent four hours yesterday to find a 911 was out of gas, top that one.
EDIT: I did have fuel flow out of the pump and it read 2/3 of a tank, it just did not have enough to run a CIS.
I hate the moral aspect of it, the customer had diagnosed the car, just told me to put a fuel pump in it that he supplied!! (first mistake) so do i charge him the time it took or just for R&R the pump and book rate of 2 hours for CIS diagnosis?

Or just say, man it was out of gas, you need a new sender. (which after turning upside down and cleaning now works)
Greg...I could of done that in 3 hours.

The biggest problem with that the car is that it is a garage queen, another low mileage car with many, many problems from sitting.
Stored inside a garage, just rotting.

Sad!

It amazes me how many people think its a GOOD thing not to drive their cars.

I have several cars that it's Very Good for them not to be driven. Worth more still in tthe factory crate in cosmoline than out and exposed. Plus, if you've ever had the pleasure of driving a Lotus 23 as a road car, you'd know that they are better to have than to drive.

Most former/ex/has-been race cars (and their owners) are better stored and admired than driven. Just sayin'...

Point taken, I would also say that could/should extend to any car in Georgia with out a working AC in the summer.

The point I am making is that if one sits for long periods it is going to need work to be reliable most times.

Maybe it is because of the line of work I am in, and never see the ones that have sat for years that need nothing, I do not know, but I sure see a lot of them that have sat for years than need thousands of dollars worth of work.

Sitting-and-rotting seems often due to life's changes - a guy buys a high-end car when he has money, the motivation, and/or the time to keep it up, but none of those three things stays in adequate supply, and when they fade away, the value of the toy (in the guy's mind) becomes what he paid for it, or what kind of condition it was in when new, but never reflective of what the toy has become. The mindset that produces the delusion is related to the hoarder's mentality...
