Default High Idle when warmed up

My 88 is idling between 1500 &2000 after I drive for a few minutes. When I first start it up It seems to idle correctly. Low idle sensor? Do I have to remove the intake again to replace it? Thanks ,Doug

Vacuum leak. Try to disconnect the battery for a few seconds, this helps sometimes to get the RPM's down a little. But this is only temporary relief, the leak has to be fixed.

Schocki, any particular vacuum ? I've replaced all the rubber elbows and had the intake off 2 times. Thanks, Doug

Easist way is to put a vacuum gauge on the vac line that goes to the fuel damper at the front of the engine. You should get around 21inHg (sea level) if no leaks. Anything less than that indicates an intake leak.

You can also make up a device that pressurises the intake via the MAF, there have been a couiple of threads on here for details.

What was done to the intake? Was the intake powdercoated?

Schoki,No powder coating but I painted it. The mating surfaces were cleaned of paint, etc.
John , I actually did see the post on the device for the MAF. I will get that put together and check all that. I might add that the car has been sitting for 6 yrs. before my trying to get it running. I did a partial intake refresh. I didn't do the linkage bushings or replace the low idle sensor. Thanks guys, Doug

Replace the flappy bearings and do a pressure check.
