928 Owners Club Board Nominations for 2010
Now is the time of the year for the 928 OC board to accept nominations for board positions.
All board members are up for election, the positions are:
President
vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
Trustee #1
Trustee #2
Trustee #3 (possibly)
While the definitions of the board member positions are defined in our bylaws. In general:
The President directs the club, brings issues to the board for voting.
The vice President has acted as the primary supporter of the Owners Club International Convention (OCIC) events, as our current vice President was the organizer of the first two OCICs.
The secretary has relied on the electronic methodology the club operates to record the club processes.
The Treasurer monitors and administrates the club's funds.
The Trustees vote on all board issues electronically (as all members of the board do).
The third Trustee is the past president. Since the acceptance of the bylaws, there has been no past president, so we have treated this as an elected position.
Only current members of the 928 OC may be nominated for a board position. Nominees must be contacted by the nominator before submission to ensure the nominee will accept the nomination. Also, please confirm their email address, as you will need to enter it in the above form.
An explanation of the nomination process, and link to nomination form, can be found at http://928oc.org/Board_Nomination_El...d_Schedule.htm
Four members of the board have volunteered to serve as the nomination committee recipients, and are being volunteered again :
Dan Bise
Greg Nichols
Marc White
Stan Shaw
Thank you

The new board is to be seated on 9/28, so there needs to be time between the closing of nominations and 9/28 for elections.
Someone already nominated you, you don't need to self nominate

I hope you re-think your strategy for getting elected.. I don't think that
" a poster of Andrew on the hood of a 928 for all members" if you're elected is going to go very far

I was thinking free superchargers, but then dues would have to go up elevteen million percent, so I dropped that idea. Instead I think I will BAN use of my likeness at any future 928 event. (That thing will haunt me for the rest of my life!)

I suspect we will ask the nominees to write-up their message to the club members and post it in the 928 OC forum.

AO, if elected what are your plans for the future of the club? What are your plans to make it better, stronger, bigger? Support of local gatherings is great, but I think the emphesis should be on future OCIC events. Will you support future OCIC events? Will you help organize an OCIC in your part of the country? We've had two in Kansas, one in Colorado and one in Texas. Time for the north to step up to the plate.
Okay off my soapbox for the moment.

As we don't have such a "requirement" in the bylaws, I don't think we could require it.
Of course members should consider whether a candidate provides a statement or the lack of it.
I do appreciate your thoughts Jim.
There seems to be a great more interest than in years past, hopefully that is good!

I think this should be a requirement, not an option. The present leadership has done a great job keeping the OC alive and well, but where do we go from here?

For now, I'm only nominated. I thought I would take some time before the election began to talk to my fellow 928 owners to see what they would like to see improved/changed and then think of some ideas of how I might facilitate and execute those ideas.
I must say that I think the previous leadership has done a fine job in its stewardship of the OC. However, as with many things, I think there is still room for improvement. Three areas come to mind.
First and foremost, I think there needs to be better communication from the OC to the masses. I would like to see some type of regular monthly or bi-monthly email communication. I would like to see the OC have a much larger/broader presence on the various web forums. This will help drive awareness, value, and hopefully membership.
Secondly, I'd like to see more transparency between the OC and its membership. Maybe some type of communication to the membership indicating what's going on, future events, current issues, etc. Maybe this overlaps with communication, but I think it's important to call it out on its own.
Finally, I'd like to see an effort of the OC to partner with various vendors as a means to become less-dependent on membership dues and perhaps enhance the value of the OC. My goal is to ensure everyone gets as much value out of the OC as they put in - hopefully more.
I think there may also be some room for improvement for the OC to serve its mission:
"Our sole purpose is to support owners' in their use and maintenance of the Porsche 928s throughout the world"
As for future OCIC events, I'd love to help plan and pull together an event. Already have a few ideas and locations in mind.
I'd also like to see more driving/touring events sponsored by the OC which I think would serve to enhance the brand recognition of the OC and in turn increase member recruitment.
Okay that's enough for now. Look forward to hearing people's ideas and serving the group.
