Don't mind him, Mark is a paid lobbiest for the anti-Exxon / Mobil consortium.

It's fine for a street car.
If you want to try racing a 928, especially without an oil cooler, it wouldn't be my first choice.

Actually, the oil matters the most when it's in the motor.

2 bar doesnt cut it in my world!

I think the only dyno oil i would trust would be the Kendal 20-50 if they still make it. I think anderson races on it.

I'm confused--over 1/2 the NASCAR field uses Mobile 1. Push-rod engines at 9K+ rpm. Or is this just a marketing ploy?

Mark - Would you consider mile runs to be the same as "tracking"? I want to do the Texas Mile this fall with the GTS and currently use Mobile 1 / 15-50 but planned on switching next oil change to something else--probably Brad Penn. Maybe i should start another thread "How to prep a 928 for Mile Runs"...

Thanks / Bruce

nascar engine /= 928 engine .
cup car engine/= 928 engine.

For some reason, the 928 has some oiling issues. these issues are highly dependent on viscosity breakdown.

I dont know what the nascar oil temps are, but I would bet that we might see higher temps as well.

mobil 1 dumps tons of money into nascar and in partnerships such as with porsche. the fact that it is used in racing, means little to nothing to me, after seeing the oil flat out fall on its face in several cars at high temp. as I said, i bet with the cup car engine design, it could work with wesson oil.

+1 in summer. In winter I run 10w-40. Change it twice a year, just for the hell of it, knowing that clean, fresh, oil at the right temperature will take good care of the internals.
I don't race anything, so I cannot comment on the suitability of the product for that purpose. But I've been using M1 in my street cars since 1975. Zero engine problems. Though recent concerns with lower zinc levels has gotten me to add a red bottle of STP just for the hell of it, also because the bottle reminds me of the Indy turbine days (Andy Granatelli would be proud).

Marketing, most use Valvoline in what ever sponsors container.

In NHRA only one fuel team used anything but Valvoline 2 years ago, and that was Alan Johnson because the team owner had to buy parts through AJ.

As far as folks who are boycotting BP, that makes no sense to me, trying to drive them out of biz when they really need to stay in operation until they get this mess cleaned up.

Brad Penn is the old Kendal, which is who so many people are starting to use it.

Including me

You mean one on blowers vs. turbos? I am working on it, give me a moment...
