Glad we don't have to run a front plate in AZ.

Brian, aren't the lasers tough to aim without "assistance" (e.g. braced against something), especially trying to hit something 1/4 mile away? MUCH narrower band than radar...

CHP has had LIDAR for a while now. Much to the dis-belief of some doubters in OT, I got pulled over by a CHiP that could not get a reading on my 928 due to no front plate & the black paint. I have heard of this phenomena in the past. Car & Driver actually did a test of this theory in the early 90's and found that darker color cars with folding headlights and steeply angled windshields were significantly more difficult to get a reading on with LIDAR. This encounter pretty much confirmed this to me as the officer told me as much. He told me to put my front plate on & let me go. And yes, I WAS doing the speed limit as he was hiding in a spot I have seen CHiP's hiding in before.

So he pulled you over just to tell you to put the front plate back on??

One of our own has no front plate on his car and has been busted 2x in the last 6 months by laser. I've giving some serious thought to the L-jammers. Sure wish they would come down in price though.

I can and do jam them all the time.

I remember the good old days when the CHP did not even use radar. If they couldn't catch you when you were rolling you were OK. Not any more.

The only winning move is not to play.

Here in VA just about all ecm gear is illegal. It would cut into the rolling road taxes! As a consequence, a speeding ticket is a common occurrence. My insurance company didn't even care.

Lol! Greg- hey, now, lets not get carried away.....I already got rid of the .40....
Don't see anything else.... hehe

I agree with Sean- now that I discovered I need this stuff, its mighty pricey. dang. Sean, however, if he can bring those units in his avatar along, that may get him off....and prevent a ticket.

A lot of folks have had horrible boating accidents in the last couple of years, many guns have went into the water, not sure why the sudden rise of lost guns.

I freely admit that, although I've spent the better part of my life on the water, I'm a terrible seaman.

Perhaps I've misunderstood, but it has been described that LIDAR relies on a very small target area for reflection, where "typical radar" looks for a much larger solid object to bounce against.

Since detectors do a decent job to pick up most typical radar, minimizing the reflective points of focus for LIDAR should provide a pretty good resistance...without use of a jammer that is.

It seems Bill experienced this first hand and it was verified by CHP, which at minimum increased his odds of not getting cleanly nailed by the gun.

Andrew - curious, in you opinion, has the jammer worked? aside from providing peace of mind along with the V1?

Brian - is it legal to display the front license plate on the dash as I have seen some people? Does the windshield deflect the lidar/laser trace?

I was pulled over in Ca. for almost stopping on a desolute stretch of road. I was doing some acceleration runs but spotted the law in time to proceed at the speed limit. He pulled me over anyway, since it was in the wee hours of the morning, and wrote me for no front plate. I think I was bedding in some new brake pads at the time.

It's good to have friends that can sign off on mechanical tickets.
