The insurance company now owns the car and THEY need to sell it to close their file on this burn claim. Far too often this type of a burn is someone "selling" their car to their insurance company...recent reports indicate that insurance fraud is way up given the state of the economy and resale markets. Two older gents sitting on the beach in Florida got to chatting and discovered both had been in the clothing business. Guy from NY said after 30 years had a fire at the factory and just decided to retire. Other guy from Chicago says Yea 35 years and a tornado destroyed everything.....NY guy asks the Chicago Guy...How do you start a tornado ?

You can tell by the remainder of the car what the temperature of the fire was. Aluminum's melting point of 1200 degrees without any aluminum on the remaining wreck says that was one hot fire. The distortion of the steel says that the fire probably reached temps of around 2200-2400 degrees at on point. Some useless trivia.

Only 106 cars newer than mine.

Critter VIN = WP0ZZZ92ZES840955
My VIN = WP0ZZZ92ZES840849

Note to self - replace those fuel lines.

I would bid $1 on it as a joke, but then I'd probably get stuck with the damned thing.

And the insurance company would then tell you about the storage yard's fee of $30 per day for the last 17 months that you owe, and they will turn it over to a collection agency if you don't pay immediately...and oh by the way, 28% interest is due on all charges 30 days or older.....
