How much was a 1984 928 in 1995 ?

Here's another one for comparison. Got my '86.5 automatic (see avatar pic) locally from dealership in Rhode Island on October 1991 for $19,500 with 50K miles on it. These were the days before internet searching so I know I paid too much for it. Was my first car, still got it and I still love it.

Got my first 928, and '83, back in '98 for $8000cdn. But it needed some work. Back then, a nice '84 with low miles and up to date service history was around $14Kcdn.

He could easily have paid 15 k at that time.....what it was worth is a different question At that time the 84 was the OLD BODY STYLE ! Also as noted the car market was far less efficient with little in the way of national listings so too high and too low pricing often occured. The amount of information now available has just about eliminated auto wholesalers moving cars from dealer sale to sale as the prior sales price pops up immediately......

It's "worth" a lot more than this - https://rennlist.com/forums/911-foru...ct-to-pay.html
Just stumbled on this thread by chance. I like the older 911's and 87 is my favorite. I know a little something about them. I drove one when it was brand new. They are a nice fun little car, but they are so primitive when compared to the 928. In no category that I can think of do they even approach the 928 - sound, size, build, performance, luxury, materials, layout, driving experience, yet they zoom past in price and owner expectation of price.
Just making an observation, don't really care. 928's are the best buy for the buck in the car world.

I bought an '85 auto in Jan of 1995 for $8500. About 100K miles on it at the time and had been repaired from one or two accidents in the past. The repairs were mostly good, except for some misalignment of the right headlight so that its cover scraped the edge of the "eye socket."

Not sure why you're asking the question, but I just drove a lot of miles in an 84 automatic.
Absolutely loved it. PLENTY of highway power. Solid hill power if you row the shifter a bit.
Just because the S4, GT, and Euro are better doesn't mean the less desireable 928s are not enjoyable.

It doesn't matter what someone paid 15 years ago....It's what someone is willing to pay for it now. Taking into account maintenance history, condition, blah, blah,blah....My car sold for $74,545 in 1989 new someone paid that!!! Glad it was not me .........., it's only worth a fraction of that today....

Just because the S4, GT, and Euro are better doesn't mean the better looking early 928s are not enjoyable.
