Glad to hear that you got what sounds like a premium spot, but I don't know if I would back in next to the wall. I have often thought about this and wonder if it would give the lowlife's more shadow to work in and offer a place to hide if someone came into the parking lot?? I usually opt for parking in a well lit location where anyone can easily see something "shady" going on.

But, I also don't know what your parking/living situation is like since I am not there and you are. Just trying to offer my $.02 and help think through all the angles so that this doesn't happen again!

RE police: lets put it this way, the police report number left on the note from the cop doesn't even show up in the system, there is only listed as an event right now with no details. Since insurance is involved they have the right to seek restitution and get me my deductible back. Ive already received the letter they aren't gonna bother with it. I will keep my own eyes out for more info and get something going should there be more 'leads', but somehow I doubt it.

Cops may be crooks, never underestimate that, they might go there (to crooks place) and take bribe and say nothing odd going on here sorry. Unless your Govt. has methods in place to detect this it is my bet. Our Police force in this state is the worlds 3rd largest and when they had a Royal Commission there was almost nobody left as they were almost all indicated as corrupt.

One politition and one cop who was sick of their tactics brought them down. Kings Cross very close to where I live (I can see it) was crime central, around $20,000 a week in bribes to Police. The commissioner at the time said it was a which hunt, all the way to him they were found corrupt. He resigned and we basically had to rebuild the whole force.

I knew the were corrupt some 17 years earlier when I had my car stolen through fraud. The motor squad wouldn't do anything about it. I went and saw a well known organized criminal who told me so many stories and how the police in the motor squad was implicated from his inquiries. After the royal commission two members of the motor squad went to gaol.

The NSW police did heaps of drug dealing, I was personally told how they would arrest dealers and they would call ........ and ask if it was ok to let them go and promise of cash payments later. The armed hold up squad used to do hold ups! They would also split the takings with the crims when they did them.
Eleven police committed suicide during the Royal Commission and the Commissioner said that we can deal with the level of corruption as the trials would just take forever and the jail would overflow etc.

So maybe you need to do something about your police force.

Chunks of human garbage. I would like to shoot them on your behalf. Here in TX - if you catch somebody f-ing with your stuff - its open season. You can't do anything about your police force, but you can do something about your government. Come on November...

I am not a great fan of the cops! However, in a case like this there is not a great deal that they can do to apprehend the perpetrators of this terrible crime on your 928. The duty of the cops is not to "protect" you from anything!!! Their duty is only to apprehend those who might commit a crime against you. When this type of crime occurs there is little evidence that is left that might lead to the apprehension of the perps, so there is not much that can be done to find who did it. Even if finger prints were left, there is almost zero likelihood that any of them found would be found in any data base. There are so many Mexicans around where you are, and most of them probably illegal, that there is nothing likely to be recorded on any of them.

So, what is it that you think might be used to lead to the criminals? Perhaps there is some way to trace your goods that were stolen, and even that will likely be needed in Mexico. What is it about your stuff that will differentiate it from any other similar or the same goods?

Again, I am no fan of the cops, but I have some insight into the San Diego Police that tends to suggest for me that they might be a cut above the ordinary and especially in regard to honesty. I suggest that you give them a break in this case and forget about any effort they might exert for you because there is essentially not place for them to look. If you think there is, let them know what it is and I think they might look further than you think they have.

I have to say, San Diego police take there jobs seriously. They are generally very fit and professional. Very different from some other places that may or may not be Chicago.
