Default BEST TRAITS OF ALL 928'S IN 1 1980!

Has anyone seen this one one? No affiliation at all!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1981-...item3a5b6f881d

"A chance to own one of the fastest and most reliable stock cars ever made. Stock 5.4 liter, almost 300 hp, 0-60 in 5.4 sec, and a smooth Tiptonic automatic transmission." Looks like he just took the best stats from different years to put in his ad. What a bargain...I think I will buy some.

It is a sharp looking car, but obviously this guy knows nothing about it, and is targeting that same crowd. (Not that I'm an expert, but it is pretty easy to find out simple facts about any 928 on the internets).

I saw this ad yesterday and agree it's a nice color. 80's Chrome rims are pimpin'... but what really got me was no pics of the interior. If you talk about it in the ad. Show it.

Oh and the little burb how he takes people to court over an ebay ad is truly inspirational.

At least you would have a good out in court since the car isn't as described in the ad.

I contacted the seller with:
"I have a few questions. When was the stock 4.5 L engine replaced with a 5.4L? How many miles on the new engine? When was the Timing Belt/Water Pump replaced last. What is the status of the Thrust Bearing on the engine. How did you get a Tiptronic to work in a 928? Do you still have records to show the new trans and the person who did the adaptation of the Tiptronic to a car that never came with a Tiptronic so if there is a problem that installer can be contacted for the work on the custom transmission? Have you replaced the Aluminum Ball Joints with Steel?"

It will be interesting to see the reply, which of course I will post if there is one.

Someone PLEASE send this MORON an email and straighten him out! What an idiot! I guess 219HP is close to 300 and that an automatic is sort of like a tiptronic and I suppose 5.4 sec to 60 is close to 7.5 of the OB cars... it's all relative!

I also like those polished pphone dials. Like in that other thread it would be cool to see them in 18inch and in a wide setup!

Please do. I am interested to see the reply...if you get one. Makes me want to ask him some questions myself, like how he speaks of a previous owner when it shows only one owner on the Carcheck report, or did he buy it and was unable to get it smogged, and left it titled to the original owner.

Dude, I said nothing about a "Tiptronic". This baby has a Triptonic. Don't you read?
