Mike I hope things look less bleak in the light of a new day, and there are a lot of people here in Socal that can help you get past this with a running car. Give yourself a few days to sort out what is really wrong and how best to proceed.

Mark hates to sell cars, and yours should absolutely be fixed and driven, don't punish the poor guy.

MIke,

I know your pain, some of us have been there and the disgust can be overwhelming. I hope someday a perfect 928 finds its way into your stable....

Hello again all,

I'd like to thank everyone for their condolences, ideas, comments and offers. By overwhelming response, I have reacted too quickly and intoxicated to dump these cars for too cheap of a price. I hope no one objects to me recinding the $3000 price for the lot. I was surely not in the best frame of mind after the damage and then trying the beer fix. I got a lot of offers for individual parts, and a few for the lot. I just can't see myself parting these. I don't mind if someone else does it, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it.. Fortunately, I had an offer for $4000 this morning and $5000 this afternoon. I'm still sick over this, but feel better from all the support this family brings. The more I get for it all, the easier it is going to be to see them go, of course, but most importantly, I could possibly put at least a small part of the cash aside to start my next shark fund. My decided plan will be to simply save my pennies and get a nice shark next time that I can simply drive for awhile. I got smacked down this round, but the war is not over. I'm not ready to give up on 928's forever. I still love them more than any new car any day. Stan and others gave a lot of encouragement to get either the 89 or the 86.5 going, but I am just ready to move on until I can afford to buy a cared for example. This sale will hopefully end with both cars going to someone who will build them and not part them. I was going to possibly list the cars separate on Craigslist just to see what happens, but instead I will let the highest offer here have them. I hope I don't upset anyone for wanting to take the largest offer and not just the first. I really need to have them sold and gone by Wednesday afternoon due to pressing financial issues.... Thank you all for your support...

I feel your pain man. My last 944 Turbo was a constant source of "frustration". It was always needing something big and I was throwing a lot of money at it. Finally only 4500 miles after a $12,000 engine rebuild it blew a head gasket Air fuel was perfect and I was only running 16psi of boost. It was set up for running 18psi. I posted here on rennlist much like your post and sold it to LART951 for $10K. He was the first to offer the highest for the car as is. He had intentions of fixing the head gasket and driving it, but ended up parting it out (he parts everything out).

When I first started looking for a nice 928 I gave up after a year and got a 944 Turbo. My full intention was that a 944 would sell quick when I found the right 928. I drove the 944 Turbo 4 years before I found the 90GT I bought from Jarrod. My mechanic told me about it when Jarrod took it in for a PPI for another buyer. The other guy backed out and I snatched it up. I made a web site for the car when I had to sell it, www.zipbang.com/928/

That car is what my dreams contain. I wonder how you could sell such a car, but then you have a GTS... Who bought that one? Is it still around?

As far as carfax knows the 90GT is still being registered by the same owner in New Hampshire as of last year.

Was at a point on the 90GT that all the GTS stuff like bigger brakes and more power were filling my dreams. Since it would basically cost the same monies, instead of molesting the GT I sold the GT to get a GTS. Went through a BoxsterS and another 944 Turbo before finding and getting into the GTS.

Mike
I feel your pain...been there and done that....I blew TWO engines in the race 928....IN TWO TRACK DAYS....

My advice...WAIT..........catch your breath & think about things......If your motor is gone in the 89...put it away and get the 86.5 running.....then in time go back to the 89......

Mike,
I nominate you to be next in line for Leon! You have so much passion for these cars.... that is why it hurts so much when bad things happen to them.

Mark A, how 'bout it? Brendan, you haven't taken Leon apart yet, have you?

Head to SITM for a injection of ambition and hope. I did last year when my rebuilt motor puked all its oil upon install 2 days before the event.

Bugger I knew I'd get pinged on that again. I was hoping to have some shirts ready for sitm but I ran out of time and spare cash.

It's still on my project list!

Didn't mean for it to be a negative in any way. Talk it up, we can take a collection.
