Brain,
Really hard to see those pictures. I've followed your work and progress so I know this is hard for you. Hopefully you will come out ok and figure out a way to fix her up, or get into another one!

Any tips on how to do that?

Document w/ pics and receipts if they don't pay you well. Look up sales ads for other '82's and print them out. Make up a nice little file and off you go. I don't know what a good price would be (be sure to look at Kelly Blue Book and other sources too) but I would think $4k+ and then additional 50%+ of all the work that you just had done... I would think if they can't come up with $6k then I would have a problem with the settlement. That is just me...

The NADA values are:
Low Retail - $6750 Average Retail - $7650 High Retail - $10050.
I hope they use that!
I have receipts totaling a little over $5600.

I'm sorry about your 928, buy am glad you are alright.
What James said about KKB + receipts is good advise. Thought keep the receipts as an "Ace up the sleeve" until they make a first offer. In lieu of KBB, consider the Porsche mag market report as it is more optimistic.

I'd recommend, if you've got a decent amount of extra work in the car, that you ask her insurance company, and, if they're uncooperative, your insurance company, to call in an independent appraiser for the valuation of your car.

Also make sure to point out that it is a five speed, and therefore much more rare (sadly one rarer, now) and consequently in higher demand.
I say this because the valuation company will DEFINITELY deduct money for it not being an A/T, since they don't know better and that is usually how it is done.

I have no idea of Texas Insurance Law, but make sure you go after her insurance company or that your subrogates against hers for the loss since she is clearly at fault.
Gather together the NADA, Galves (if they cover anything before 1990), eBay past sales, Craigslist, Autotrader, cars.com, Porsche Club of America Panorama magazine and any other documentation of price for a similar year. Also check Hemmings. Sounds like you have your receipts.
Pull together any of your postings that document YOUR time into the car.
Ideally you want to get the maximum NADA book value so you can buy another, complete car. You know the overage will go back into maintenance...
Hang in there and go and try to enjoy what's left of this weekend and remember our fallen heros-they gave their lives so we can enjoy our pursuit of happiness (and 928s)! Call it blasphemy, but at the end of the day-it's just a car and thankfully you WILL find another and enjoy the great memories of this one.

My condolences.
As you said, some people don't belong behind the wheel. Hope you come out on top of the situation (new shark) when it's all said and done, and glad you are ok.

Sorry to see your loss. Hope she does have insurance! and really glad to see you are OK1
I got hit like this Nov 2009, broke my neck, had surgery and I'm still doing PT every week. Health is the most important thing. Oh, and they didn't have insurance or assets!

Remember that it's up to THEM to make you whole again. If you can't agree on a valuation, have them find a matching replacement. Drive their rental until the new car is in your driveway.

Dr Bob makes an excellent point...take the rental car it gives them some incentive to settle. Also many people find that they were injured and that helps with the proposed settlement since they really want to close the file if there is a potential for medical claims. One 928 owner an insurance adjuster for a big company once told me that they would give away $5,000 if the insured just mentioned medical claims....Sadly now some insurance companies use Craigslist as a source for values but DISCOUNT them as asking prices !!!
