Hi All ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Took my 928 S2 for its annual MOT test and it failed on a small hole that needed welding directly above the rear right hand wheel (looking from the back)
Anyway, I told the garage to do the welding (same day) and picked the car up at the end of the day with a fresh MOT certificate after the welding was done....
BUT.... when I drive it now (daily driver) , whenever I go over a pothole or lump in the road, I get a clonking noise from the right rear![Frown](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
The garage say all they did was to take off the wheel, strip down the interior on that side, weld the hole and put it all back together....as a friend owns the garage, I BELIEVE THEM...
But still got this noise over bumps....
I suspect its coming from above the rear fender liner as when I check both side liners the OTHER side liner is firm and does not move and the right hand one is NOT FIRM and moves slightly....
Is there anything above that liner that they could have left loose or not bolted on that would cause this clonking noise ????
I have checked all the obvious things like drive shaft joints etc even though they did not touch them....
I will take it back to my friend for them to strip the cover off again and see if anything is loose but it would be good to say....check so and so....
The noise sounds like the battery jumping up and down over bumps (it isn't as its still clamped down....and on the other side) but its the best description I can give of the noise....
So any ideas please ?
All the best Brett

Not aware that S2 (85?) had rear wheel well liners, apart from front and rear splash shields. By a liner I think of full cover all the way , including over the top. GTS , around 90 onwards, yes.
On the right the front shield covers a fuel accumulator on my CIS car,but yours will be LH - not sure if fitted there. There is no rear shield on my car on the right - just the fuel filler neck part of the tank. Apart from that, there shouldnt be much in that area to make a noise, except maybe the wheel not correctly refitted? Do you know how they jacked the car to remove the wheel? Is the noise coming from outside the cabin? 'Strip down the interior' means what exactly? Can you be more specific about where the welding was done?
