I'm sorry to hear this news. Unfortunately they have had a few set backs in the last couple of years. George and Claudia are a staple in the FL 928 group. I hope they will continue to grace us with their presence at gatherings.

George - I'm so sorry to hear about your Father - a wonderful man who I had the pleasure of meeting - I wish the best for your family - if their is anything I can do (like stop hijacking a thread out of respect!!!!) - just let me know.
I have worked on this car guys - it was a direct import from Europe by the original owner - it is in great shape, even retaining the "coppertone" wheels which Claudia refused to let George change out for bigger S4 rims.

Interesting- it has the US body styling. Was it specially optioned requiring 'direct import'? Looks very clean, sorry for the loss, I hope somebody steps up to purchase.

From what I recall when it was for sale in Sebring when George bought it. The owner was of German heritage who lived in Iowa, but spent his winters in Sebring each year. IIRC, From info per this gentleman: The car was purchased at a US dealer by someone else, who kept the car for a couple months or so, then took it back to the dealer for reasons unknown. This gentleman then purchased it only about 4 months old & kept it for 23 years until his age dictated selling the car. It had Iowa plates on it when George purchased the car in Sebring.

If it was directly imported for someone, it had to be for the owner of a couple of months, who turned it back in to the dealer. That would be a bit odd if someone wanted a 928 badly enough to order it & wait for it, then only keep it a few months. I didn't think that owner of a few months was worth mentioning originally since the true 2nd owner had the car for such a length of time & bought it only a few months old.

Here's the link to the post I made here back in Nov '05 to make it available to everyone when George told me about him finding the car being for sale local to him. It was about 3-5 months later that Claudia decided she wanted a 928 and not a 944, so George bought this shark for her.
