Default George V's '83 928 f/s $5k

Hello All,

George V just lost his dad last week. He's in Greece right now helping his mom settle things up so he can eventually bring her back to the USA. This causes him to need to part ways with his '83 Shark. He asked me to post it here for sale. Its an auto.

He's owned it about 4 yrs and bought it from the original owner at 59k miles. The elderly German gentleman cried when George went to pick it up. I told him that could be any one of us one day.

It should have just over 80k miles, the odometer gear went out in Oct. at Sharks at Daytona with 79k on it. Due to the sudden circumstances of his dad's death out of the country, I wasn't able to get specific maintenance/repair history of the car. But I know he typically takes care of any & all maintenance on his 928s.

In the photos below that I have of the car, I included the 3 original photos from when he purchased it & also a few of it when it was one of about five 928s that represented in the Porsche Historic Display at the Rennsport Reunion III in 2007. Unfortunately, I don't have any interior or engine pics. The interior is a medium brown I believe.

If you are interested or know of someone who is, you can reach George's wife Claudia on George's cell #863-273-2415 or via email at: kiabuddy@comcast.net

If you have trouble getting in touch with her, you can call me at 904-945-1087 or mel@melgward.com & I can help facilitate the communication.

Hey Guys,
I'm interested in this car. I own a '79 911SC and my wife has owned a 968 but we've never had a 928 in the family. I just spoke to Claudia and the car is available. Since George is not available, I was wondering if anyone could offer any more details. Thanks

Andy,
Sounds like you are due for a 928 and this might just be the best place to start! I don't know anything about it, so I can't help you there. The Dallas 928 gang is big and powerful these days! You will have a GREAT 928 ownership experience in Dallas! You might also ask the DFW gang if there are any strong candidates like this one close by...they will know. Lots of time "collectors" (like me for instance) have something for sale, but don't really advertise it or push it...kind of if a good home opens up then we allow for the adoption. There could be something like that closer to home for you.

Keep us posted on your progress towards a 928! You will LOVE IT!

EDIT: Just noticed there is a June 5th 928 gathering in the DFW area...there is a thread about it here in the forum so take a look and talk to some current 928 owners!

Andy,
That would be a great car! I miss my '81 and could live vicariously through you!

I will try to make the June 5 gathering as well. It'll be great to meet you.

Andy,

My pleasure. 928's are a lot of fun and having a mechanic that knows them well is VERY IMPORTANT! Having a mechanic is Katy when you live in Dallas is NOT GOOD, but you have Sean in Denton and he is a 928 guru!

My buddy here in town has Turbo'ed several 928's...his current '86.5 is F-A-S-T!

Sounds like us and the dogs.

I have found that there are a lot of 928's that can be had, but are not really for sale until the right prospective owner comes along.

That kind of makes some of 928 crowd different from other groups.

Greg, that is a nice way to put it! I am different than just about EVERYBODY ELSE! LOL!!! I wouldn't have it any other way...get that from my mom, she is kind of the same way.

Andy, yes, 6 car double tall A/Ced garage! LOVE IT! To me it is just another (albeit HUGE 1600 sq. ft.) room in the house to be enjoyed EVERY DAY!!! 32" TV, 5.1 Surround sound...gotta love it!

Scott-I heard about the Dallas Coffee & Cars last but have not been, have you?

Joe-thanks! How did the interior look?
I have yet to make it to C&C. This will be my first.

And, BTW, good luck getting Al to work on a 928..... He's much better on rear engined cars.
