As long as they are solid and not hollow.
The same manufacturer makes the MM's for both Anchor and Corteco (they own Corteco now).
Nearly impossible to tell unless you drill holes into them.

Had a car dropped off on Sunday and he asked about a set of motor mounts that he bought off the internet for cheap. I shook them and one was solid, one was water filled. He looked pretty disappointed when I told him what would happen if we used them.

There's only one available when you try to order. I found another seller on Amazon a couple of days ago selling for about $18 each but the order screen also said they only have one. I emailed the seller and they replied they think they have two at the "central warehouse" and offered to put their hands on them and try to determine if they are defective or not. I asked them to shake hard and listen for liquid, as well as try to compress. We'll see what happens. For that price, worth a shot.

What we need is access to an X-Ray machine or an airport scanner...

The wife's got an ultrasound scanner at her office. That would differentiate sold vs. hollow-liquid vs. hollow-empty....

I have found a new alternative MM and shipping out some sets today to customers to see if they work as well as I think they will.
Don would you like a set?

Please be aware the the MM's we had a problem with did not slosh when shaken and were more solid feeling and weighed more than the know solid. They were also hollow as you know.

Roger,

You don't owe me a replacement set as mine were door prizes, but I may purchase one of the new sets from you, but need to think about it a bit more. Can you give us more details on what you have found? Is there more than one manufacturer of these mounts?

I'm starting to believe that it is my mounts making the noise, but the engine is not as low as Saab's was. Someone said that you should have at least one finger space between the engine and crossmember and I do. So not collapsed completely. Still, I've looked many times, and can't see anything else that could be making the popping noise.

Don you need to bring the car back up here to my house and we can redo the whole MM job and see if we can find your problem. Just call one weekend.

The motor mounts don't see much stress do they, no torque from moving the car, just vibration and rpm change?

Or...for a few more bucks, one could just buy the correct mount, from Porsche, and forget them for the next 20 years.

We're going to offer the "optional" Ford Motor Mount Wing Nut Kit to make changing those Ford mounts even easier, the next time around.
