I'm in the Springs and could use a windshield. Who is the shop? Do they have more? Maybe we could work a deal on 2 of them.

I got a SIGLA w/antenna, upper tint band and the black band around the border from him for my '88 S4. It was about $500 which included crating and shipping it to me from the east coast. Paid $150 to have it installed. The acual cost was under $400 for the windshield alone. The new WS is wonderful!

A local windshield shop quoted me $2100 to have the same windshield installed....

Would any of my fellow Canadians know where I could get a windshield, sounds like I couldn't have one shipped across the border like I was hoping.

The new glass is being installed now. It's a green band Sigla with no antenna. I've emailed Roger for some details on adding the bee sting.

Cheers,
Paul

Well, it's in. The new windshield looks good, and the tech tells me that the new urethane adhesive should be a lot better than the original butyl. The down side is that the top trim got pretty dinged up in the process. I expect that this, like the corner moldings on the door ledge seals, is one of those pieces that's designed to be replaced rather than reused?

Yes, the original butyl rope system is outmoded. Urethane bead should work great, although it can be sloppy unless the guy is real good at laying down a consistent bead. The moldings should survive if the guy understands the way they are clipped, but I had the same experience.

My only problem with the $300 winshield was that the black trim along the bottom didn't come up high enough to block out (or mask) the off color felt on the leading edge of the dash

The little roof-mounted antenna used on '89's and later.

Just replaced my 83 windshield in Phoenix / was also the sigla with green tint.
The kid installing it was great he took the time to remove molding with out damage and replaced it with no damage and used the new seal, Looks good and only cost 358.

I'm trying them now, I've had no luck with the 2 windshields I've ordered through Brumos from Germany. 3 weeks to ship and both came in broken. My local glass guy agreed that I can order the windshield and he can install.
