Could you also PM me Ed. I already have a new one which I'll probably sell here rather than send back to you. I'll buy another and have you convert over there. Can you advise cost and whether you want me to buy a core or you buy?
Thanks
Dave

I'm still a bit confused about this water pump solution. What is the process? You buy a new/rebuilt/used water pump or housing then ship it to Ed OBehave where it is outfitted with the new bearing? Or does Ed rebuild your existing old/used pump to his new design.
Not even sure if my example(s) makes sense. All comments welcome.

I began down that route only to find that it was not necessary. With the drive system set up the way it is ,impeller and/or bearing migration can't happen.
As of right now you send me a pump,I modify and install the drive setup and ship it back to you. I am in the process of working with existing vendors to supply me with some cores and new pumps so we can get it to a point of having these on the shelf ready to ship when needed.I have the jigs and a machine set aside just for this project so that I can do volume runs to try and keep it affordable for all. From what I can see, this addresses two of the common failures of 928 water pumps: bearing failure affecting the timing belt and the impeller hitting the block. Now people are saying that this WP will "last for ever".
Although I have changed several 928 WPs as a precaution, I have only experience one actual failure myself, and that was neither of the above, it was a leaking seal with no associated bearing problem. The WP concerned was 107,000 miles old. These seals are "contact" seals, so the seals are going to wear out, so please don't anyone fool themselves.

I don't think anyone is fooled here. A seal failing and leaking is not a problem, and normally what you WANT to have fail first. Overheating is welcome compared to crashed valves or machined block. When a catastrophic impeller failure occurs, it's too late. I also wecome the option of avoiding a $1000 water pump. Call me crazy, but when a superior technology corvette water pump costs $200, you have to look at what has been done here is bring fresh life to the 928 by eliminating another known weak point in the design. It is now one less nightmare in the world of 928 ownership. Time will tell on longevity of the design, but what I see is logical, elegant problem solving design. Seems the passion for these cars drive their owners to improve and develop them it ways only time and love could procure. Between PorKen, Black Sea R&D, and OBehave, you get a glimpse of what might have happened naturally if the 928 had continued factory development until today. I applaud all of these efforts and am glad this car commands such passion.

Hi Mike,
Your statements are much appreciated on my behalf and I'm sure by Porken and Ed too!
You are correct that passion for the Porsche type 928 and keeping them around longer was my company's (Black Sea R&D) driving force behind bringing our products to market. The response from the 928 community around the globe has been very good and much appreciated!
In talking with Ed about the new water pump design before him introducing it to the public, I found the same shared passion and desire to bring something to the 928 community that was needed and that would take away another weak spot in the 928's design. Ed's design will give a great measure of comfort to those doing a timing belt /water pump job and should be viewed as a must have item.
Thanks again for the kind statements,
