Thanks for the information everyone. OK, for those who follow behind:
Its the front lines that are tough to get out. The "short" front line extracts by pulling it out towards the back, sliding it through the gap between the cross brace mount bracket and the passenger body shell. The "long" line extracts by pulling it out frontwards, towards the radiator. As the front of the metal line approaches the radiator, it needs to take a hard turn towards the drivers wheel, and then it extracts totally out between the space inside the cross brace bracket and the passenger body shell.

OK....just dropped off the transmission lines to have new hose crimped on. The outfit that can do the job is Colliflower and the have presence throughout Md, Pa, Va and Ga. They can normally do the work while you stand there, but this store had to order a few more crimps. They also stock external hose springs for anti-collapse around bends, and siliconized heat blankets to replace the 2 asbestos heat wraps that have seen better days. They are at http://www.colliflower.com/colliflowerlocations.html

Just make sure the keep the oriantitaion of the ends the same as before. Last thing you need is ti fight the hose ends during reconnect.

Correct you are. The fittings at the transmission have to be orientated correctly with the way the metal lines are twisted. have already discussed this with Colliflower and I will be there when they crimp these.
