I see pictures of cars where also 928S4 is embedded. Is this engraved like the PORSCHE letters or is it a sticker ? Was it a factory option to delete it ?

Who can solve this mistery for me ?

Thanks.
Paul
As mentioned, the "928S4" was a decal, it was never embedded into the bumper mold as the "Porsche" was. There was both an option code to add the decal (M302) and a code to delete it (M498). The M302 "add" code does not appear on most of the option-code lists but is referenced in the official "where-to-stick-it" document (below).

I believe that the "928S4" decal was actually dealer-applied. Our '88s4 has neither the sticker nor the delete-code and I have a vague recollection of the salesman asking whether we wanted it or not.

Without the decal, the only external "928" designation is on the rear-window trim, under the spoiler. Pretty stealthy...

When I got my car it didn't have the 928S4 decal and I thought the rear looked bear also in white the embedded word "Porsche" is difficult to see, it stands out better on darker colors so I fitted the decal, then I saw Scottzj's rear! and thought that looks good and so fitted the raised letters. not stock I know but I like it on mine and I think it suits a white car.

where did you get the fake GTS strip? is it a sticker reflective, or do you have to modify the bumper and cut out the portion?

No modifications required AFAIK. It's just a relfective strip with an adhesive backing.

I like it just having the engraved PORSCHE lettering along the back of mine, looks fine like that IMO. I know it's an S4!

Don't look like 15 year olds to me, one of us needs to calibrate.

It has a reflective metal foil backing -but it is not a 'reflector' in the usual sense of the word. As Andrew pointed out, it is held on with adhesive... like 3M body adhesive and fits on the surface of the bumper cover. It would look better if it was counter sunk into the bumper like the real GTS strip. I added the letters to the strip and are similar to Nicole's offerings. The strip & letters came from Jager Engineering (now Garage 9) in Canada.

From a distance it looks good... up close, you can see it is a raised add-on.

[/ CITA]
Is the gts adhesive strip still available?
