Thanks to everyone for the kind words
Progress has been slowed by a boat paperwork snag. And then another shiney thing caught my attention and I went off on new project. The boat WILL get finished.....even if I have to find a different hull.
That is the "customer" conference room. There is a smaller one connected to my office that I'm using to build a cafe bike
This looks great and solves so many problems at once.
Think about it:
- No more shrinking leather
- No more dash cracks
- No more alignment issues between dash and console
- No more broken dash temp sensor
- No more console sides coming loose and warping
- Glove box hinges can't break
- Don't need a conversion for Keith-Widow-Style (or Jerry Feather Style) flush console
- ...
But I do wonder, if one of those will make it into Dave's 928 powered boat.

I'm getting some Pm's about using this dash in a street car and I just want to make sure everyone understands how much structure and complexity is NOT included in this part. To illustrate that point, here are couple shots of the back side. A clever and patient 928'er could probabaly add back a lot of stock detail but that was not my intent when I set out to make a simple lightweight dash shell.

I'm probably being over cautious but I don't want to send one to someone who would be disapointed if they intended to drop it into thier car.
I wish I had an extra stock dash to rip apart.......I'm wondering if you could strip one to the point where this part could be used as an overlay. That might provide all of the stock mounting points. It might be an intersting idea but my project list is full enough already

You are right, Nicole!
I know the guy to do it too..
Chris (Landseer) wants this setup for his '84,
and more than likely has a strippable dash,
AND has an already stripped pod to complete the look!

When Dave began this project, he contacted me and we discussed the possibility of either a leather cover or an Alcantara cover.
But since Dave as decided to go with paint instead for his boat, I'm not sure there is an actual market for a finely tailored cover for these.
The quality of the part certainly warrants it, but designing a cover that will fit in a way to make it justice, will be a bit of work. I don't want to do it for nothing.
I know of at least one individual building a track car, who wants one of these in Alcantara. But I would need a bit more than that.
I can have one sent to my shop to template if there is indeed a demand.
Thanks
Paul

While I am close to installing the car dash, the boat will be much further out. I have a lot of building and testing to do on the drive system before I start on the cosmetics. Also, for the boat application I will need to section the dash and make it wider. The cover for that one would not work in a car anyway.
If you want one to play with for a while, I can send you one of mine as I won't need it for quite some time.
All fun stuff though I would like to see someone take these to the next level.

Paul....I probably was not clear on this. The dash for the boat will be upholstered while the one for my track car will be done in black wrinkle paint.
