Default 930 steering wheel on a 928

I am looking at a 930 wheel that came off a 86 911 (930). It has no hub, can the hub and ring from my stock 85 wheel be transferred over or would I have to buy a hub separately.

Thanks!

I think it would help to know just what you are talking about. The wheel does not have a hub. The car has a hub and the wheel bolts up to the hub. Given that, what is it you are trying to figure out?

OK, I am going to correct myself. My dictionary says that the hub is the central part of a wheel, propeller or fan. Given that, what you seem to be asking about is a wheel without a central part. I think that is possible with bolt together wheels; and if that is what you are talking about, why don't you show a picture of the wheel you have without a hub. Then maybe someone can help you figure out what you need to know.

The wheel you are talking about, I looked at it as well. I believe to get the appropriate hub will end up costing more than just buying the steering wheel with 928 hub from www.928gt.com

Was having a brain fart when I posted, title has been corrected.

So the hub on the 928 steering wheel cannot be transferred over? Will a Momo hub work?

Cosmo, I have a 930 steering wheel in my '89 and I still don't know what you are talking about.

Below is a picture of what a 930 wheel in a 928 looks like. If your wheel looks different, it may not really be a 930 wheel. What portion of it is missing?

What you need is a hub adapter for 928, pelican parts has one for $123.

I had a steering wheel that had a 928 part number on it but the splined area was too small to accept the 928 steering shaft. I also had an earlier 928 three spoke wheel that attached correctly. What I did was grind off the rivets that attach the hub to the steering wheel on both wheels. I then just bolted the hub that was correct to the later 928 wheel.

The backside has no splines or anything, just the wheel. the hub has been removed. Otherwise it is identical. Here are the pics.

Looks like I would need the adapter from pelican.
