Default Engine Strut Brace Differences?

I pulled off my old engine strut brace to compare to an 87 engine strut brace and there is a significant weight/feel difference even though they look identical.

Can anyone talk to this? Is one better than the other? It the lighter one stronger? Weaker? Same? Very curious?

Use the heavy one. The later, light ones tend to bend. Use a straightedge on what you've got and maybe you'll find it already is.

I'm not sure about how it was done, but my old style bar is bright and shiny. Probably was chromed. I can see that polishing the Al version would look good.

Something I'd like to do is weld braces from the bar to the strut mounts. Two new parts on each side triangular-style. I got a second bar for that and it was an Al one. Those are so much thinner and aluminum.
