Dave,
I'm so excited things have worked out for everyone, especially Jeannie and yourself. It will be great to see you guys enjoying yourselves! I know you guys have put so much time and $$$ to make the weekend special for everyone each year and I thank you both for it.

This has always been a very special event for me since I purchased my car in 2002 (had it for 2 weeks). It's always great to see old friends and make new ones. Looks like you are taking the event up to the next level and I look forward to attend.

If folks were on the fence about going this new venue should make the decision for you!

I look forward to going and want to thank Dave and Jeannie again for doing this for us 928 owners.

Sincerely,

THANKS GLENN!! We look forward to seeing you and everyone else also!! I don't think I have ever been as excited about any other SITM than I am about this one!!

It's funny, I am already hearing local rumors that some of the guys that have vacation homes here are going to be coming by to see us.. in their helicopters!! One has said he will take some pics of the event for us. I also heard a rumor last night that the owner of the Miami Dolphins may be coming too (he owns one of the LARGE private communities nearby). Of course these are rumors, and only time will tell, the point is all the buzz and excitement already happening in the area is very encouraging!!!

FYI, most people don't know about the "back side" of Beech Mountain, it has one of the largest resort/vacation home communities and up until last year the highest elevation golf course in Eastern America ( a new one nearby just beat them by a few feet).

If you check out the SAT image below you can see all the roads in these communities and part of the golf course near the top, and this is an old image, it's even bigger now. Note the small red circle at the bottom, that is the downtown area. The property taxes there are very high, and lord knows who has vacation homes there! This is part of what made me LMAO when Barry made the comment about a speed trap to increase the town revenue... trust me, if they caught ALL of us in speed trap, the revenue for them would be a joke and not worth their time.... AND wouldn't even come close to the money/time they are planning to spend with the Town resourses to make us feel welcome and wanted!!!

OH I forgot, a friend works at a shop with at least 2 lifts across from the Best Western, so if there is any emergency wrenching needed their shop will be available for us..AND they plan to keep their shop open late into Saturday Night for us if needed. :-) He told me they were even re-expoying the floors and making it all "spiffed" just for us!!

I tell ya, the whole area is wound up and excited about us doing everything in Banner Elk and Beech Mountain this year!

IT'S GONNA BE A BLAST!!!

BTW, here is my best attempt at a Google Earth snapshot from the Best Western (the whilte blob in the foreground) showing the road up to Beech Mountain (the "white" line going up the mountain at the top middle), the red dot is where the Event is. Approx 2000' elevation change in less than 5 miles, 75%+ of it in the last 2 miles!

Wish I knew how to go a "ground level fly over" of the road for you guys, but my Google Earth skills sux!

I missed three years in a row due to kids' HS graduations.

I guess my 'skeptical & suspicious' mind was still in use after reading about all of the B.S. "infractions at GFM" that were preventing us from having it there again this year!

Believe me, I too am welcoming the change from a site that makes you & Jeannie do all the work and trumps up charges to get rid of us... to a place that insists on participating, creates '928s only' areas & has rolled out the red carpet for our group!

And this time, you both can enjoy the festivities with the rest of us...

Absolutely! It's too bad you can't move the graduation party to Beech Mountain! He can then be shown the light on which car to own and some of the best folks to know and call friends!

Boston and North based guys who are making the drive down, is anyone looking for a "shotgun" passenger, someone to help cover the fuel costs, maybe even driving chores?

That is the easiest way I can see to making the tour this year. I have to get there sooner or later.......

This year's schedule is just too tight to do it any other way.

This morning I was talking to Lorelei about SITM 2010 and she said: "We are going, I've already adjusted my schedule....."

Looks like I have a lot of work to do......

Well I guess we know who wears the pants in your relationship... and it ain't you!

Book a room at the Comfort Suites in Alcoa, TN before you forget. Then plan on a very long day Thursday driving from Green Bay to Alcoa. Friday will be totally worth it. I assume you have a room at the Best Western for the event itself?

MapSource puts Green Bay to Alcoa as 760 miles and 12 hours.

Of course that is from center of the two towns, may be more or less, I wonder if he can do it in less than 10. hours.
