I was down in Blowing Rock at the Blue Ridge Boxster Summit. While passing through Banner Elk on Friday I saw three 928's and knew something was up - you just don't see these cars that frequently - never mind multiple cars in a small NC town. Did some quick internet research and learned about SITM. Revised our plans for Sat and simply had to make a trip up to Beech Mtn to see the cars. Fantastic collection of cars and some great people. Enjoyed the Parade. Just a few pictures we took.

Thanks Tony. I had driven past it once before in my DD, and wished I had the 928. When I went past it today, I almost did a power slide. You know you'll see it again in a few months.

I want to thank Dave and Jeannie for putting on a such professionally organized event, and allowing me to attend it. This is the first time I saw them since OCIC 2004 - crazy, how time flies!

I had a wonderful time this weekend! This was my first time in North Carolina, and I was impressed by the lush landscape, excellent roads, and super friendly people. I did have a hard time understanding some of the locals, though. In fact, there were moments when I could not figure out what language they were speaking.

At SITM, most everyone seemed to know me. However, I quickly reached memory overload when it came to screen names, real names, cars, avatar, locations, ...

My biggest mess-up was with David Hawkins (cold_beer839) - when you introduced yourself my disk was already near max. capacity, and I could not connect your name properly. Please forgive me for the confusion! I wasn't avoiding you, and wish we would have spoken more!

In addition to than Dave and Jeannie, there are a few people who I owe a special "Thank You" to:

Rixter: Thanks for meeting-up and guiding me to the hotel. And thanks for the little collectible you provided. It's an awesome addition to my collection!

Jim Doerr: Thanks for giving me a ride up the mountain in your awesome pearl 928. Your car was one of my favorites this weekend. I hope we get to continue our conversation some other time.

Carl (928andRC51): Great to meet you finally! Glad you convinced me to join you for the Friday dinner. Also thanks for the wild rides on Saturday. See you some time in the North East!

Tom Falkenberg: You have no idea how much I appreciate your thoughts and advice on the topic we discussed!

Greg Nettles: Thank for your saabtastic advice!

Brent: It was great to see you and Ann again! Your car gets even more beautiful every time I see it. You did an awesome job with the interior restoration so far! Thanks again for testing the seals! Sorry that I did not get to say good-bye; hope you had (or are still having) a safe trip.

Andrew Olsen: Thanks for explaining the laser jammer system, along with the demo. I want one of those! And thanks for letting me tickle you a bit... (looks like you enjoyed it)

Hans: You blew us all away this weekend! What a great job you did with that console design. Let's chat more about it - and DO send me the info on the AMG stuff you are looking for.

It was awesome to finally meet Eric and Lorelei, Glen Minucci, Tim Murphy, Kurt Auzins, Afshin, Nicholas Bryant, Greg Nichols, Constantine, Rod Underwood, Fraggle-Mike and family, White-Lightning-Barry, Wayne Giraud, checkmate, and many others I have corresponded with, or who had ordered from me.

Great to see Mike and Gina, Jim and Sue, Giovanni, Chuck Z, Tony, Mike Schmidt, Earl Gilstrom, Glen McCartney, and many other old friends!

At the same time I was sad that neither Wally Plumley nor Dave Chamberland could make it. There were a few others I thought I'd meet, who - unfortunately - could not come. Maybe next time...

Either way: My disk is full with names, faces, and images of cars, and I will probably mix-up a few people when I see them again.

PS: Unfortunately, I forgot the mounting bracket for the Valentine1, so I had to become a bit creative until I met-up with Rixter and we got some velcro. I attach a picture of my ghetto-rigged installation...

[QUOTE=Andrew Olson;7638123]What a spectacular time! I mean that. SITM has become a family reunion that I WANT to attend every year.

Dave and Jeannie have, once again, put on the best 928 event, bar none! The new venue was a complete success. Thanks to you again.

I've got a lot of picture below, but before you look at them, please consider this...

If you have ever attended SITM or ever plan to attend SITM in the future, without 928 Specialists, there is no SITM. It is without question the premier 928 gathering. A lot of hard work, expense, and stress goes into pulling this event off. I think that's worth something. Don't you?

Andrew,

Spot on! Dave and Jeannie have been 928 party hosts for many years and my wife and I visited our first shark gathering while it was called Sharks In The Harbor (SITH) where we got to meet all the other crazy 928 owners back before there was a Rennlist Forums.

Great to see you again and have a chance to hang out with you and your posse. Apologies for my poor attempt at humor during your discertation about installing a SC system!

By the way, did you ever find out who put that decal on your car?

Until next year,

Big thanks to Dave and Jeannie as always, SITM is the most important date on my calendar all year.
Great to see everybody as usual, and we did have some good weather despite a few brief showers.

It was a treat to finally meet Nicole and chat with her.

p.s. Thanks for the lucky door prize win on saturday night. 928 SP gave away some good stuff.

These weekend gatherings go by way too fast! It seemed as there was simply not enough time to see all the cars and meet all of our RL friends and fellow 928ers... damn, SITM just flew by.

I am glad so many are posting pics because in my haste to gather everything needed for the trip -I forgot my camera!

Anyway, it was a great opportunity to see old friends, meet new friends and to somehow connect the people with their cars & RL user names (as AO mentioned -not too many brain cells left after last weekend!)

Some folks I was fortunate enough to meet & chat with and look forward to seeing again:
Andrew Olson [Andrew Olson]
Hans & Katie
Erik [Hacker-Pschorr] & Lorelei (the model you paid to accompany you)
Tim Murphy [Tim Murphy]
Frank [Franks928S] & Annie (smokin')
Greg Nettles [blown87]
Nicole Mossinger [Nicole]
Rod Underwood
Tom Falkenberg
Pam (everyone misses you) & new beau (damn it all)
Mike & Family [Mr. & Mrs. Fraggle & Fragglette]
Jim Doerr [Jadz928]
Nicholas Bryant [Nicholbry]
David Hawkins [cold_beer839]
Glenn
Chuck Zachman [Chuck Z]
Rick Dauer [rixter]
James [Kore928]
Brian [CamboInc]
Kurt [auzivision]
Chris [Chris Lockhart]
Crystal (also smokin')
Jim & Sue Corenman [jcorenman]
?? [whalebird]
& many more that I will try to mention as the memory cells sober up!

Thank you Dave & Jeannie & Thor for providing such a quality gathering for all of us... it's one thing that keeps our community strong!

+1

I'm not sure I could even start compiling a list!!! I'm too afraid I would forget to mention someone.

I suggest we all wear nametags with our avatars and signatures from the forum printed out next time

It cannot be said enough what wonderful hosts Dave and Jeanie are. Thanks again for an awesome weekend.
Lorelei is already planning for next year since she’s not sure how all of her stuff is going to fit in a 928 with the beer. #1 item on the list is coffee due to what Lorelei and Brian referred to as: "luke warm dark brown water" the room coffee maker produced.

Default sans brain cells

I got put on shop cleanup detail at work yesterday because they could tell I was a little fuzzy.

I think I had a corroded coil king-lead... or too many Colt 45s... or... hey Billy D, wait up!

Constantine, I enjoyed meeting and talking with you Sat. SITM is a great event with an AMAZING group of people. I'm the 924S guy, and I felt right at home.

Thank you in advance!

Michael
There was a really, really clean 86.5 for sale there for $12.5k. IIRC, it was a 2-owner car with all records, neighborhood of maybe 90k miles, and has been under current owner for 12 years. Engine bay and the rest of car was absolutely spotless, no I mean SPOTLESS. Can't remember the owner's name but he was at Frenzy also, so maybe someone will post up and remind me. Here are some pictures of the car....
