Where the s*** does this go?!?

So I took off my intake manifold to get it powdercoated and to switch over to the silicone boots. As I was peeling everything apart I noticed that all my rubber hoses had turned into what can be best described as black pvc, so I decided to change those out. This piece came out of one of the hoses during disassembly and I can't for the life of me remember where it goes. No luck from PET or my parts fiche. I assume it to be a pcv valve, but if it is, it died long ago, as there is no rattling from inside.
Please help. If anybody knows the part number as well, I'd like to replace it.
Thanks,
Kris

It's actually a .40. It's their XDM... match grade barrel, full bore, 16 in the clip, 1 in the chamber. I really love it. it's perfectly balanced. It carries light for a full size pistol. It just feels great in your hand. with the interchangable back straps it fits all hand sizes as well....that was the main reason I didn't just get a 1911...grip feels too small.

If you look at the oil filler neck there are 2 hose attachments on it. This goes in the one which connects to the intake manifold.

I sent that same part to Big Dave when he was unable to locate one.

thanks, Colin. that was driving me nuts.
Well Bobby, if you can't do the job with 10, then you shouldn't be there in the first place...I like to have the extra rounds to do some victory shooting afterwards

It is from the oil filler neck, but I'm pretty sure the part should be permanently attached to the neck, not just pushed in as it can easily pull out and even if it stays in will cause a slight vacuum leak.
It's fairly common for this part of the filler to fail. On my last S4 I stuck it back on the neck using a gasket sealant and it it stayed there.

Drops inside the the oil filler neck on the passenger side with the small hose, it is a one way valve used for vacuum. Try blowing on it and see if it still seals!

As I recall, this part has PCV type components in it (moving valve plus a spring). I cleaned mine out with fuel injector cleaner and inserted it into the new hose, that came without the valve.
