Anybody recall how the 700 hp was measured? Something about how much fuel it used?

That's assuming the original "700hp" engine is still there.

It's also apart so you are pretty much starting over. There has also been a lot of skepticism about that HP claim, mainly due to how it was calculated. No doubt it made a boat load of power, there has been more than a few advancements in engine technology since then, especially when it comes to engine management.

You are twice my size, but if it's still got a Hart motor in it, I will win that competition.

I would like to see the 2 valve 944 heads, cams and the big *** sleeves that are epoxied into the block. If all the original engine parts are there putting it back together could end a lot of speculation as to how much power it truly made.

I miss Devek.. Susan, if you ever lurk around here, I hope you're well... And, I'm looking for another 928. Thanks for the ride in the "white car". That was awesome...

That car and Devore inspired me to build the 427ci car I have now.

Someone told me of that article in 1990(?) and the possibility of getting big displacement out of a 928 was exciting. I had a 32v and was contemplating making cams for it for some moderate improvement when that story blew me away with the potential.

At the time the only real big engines were cast iron pushrod ones. There was also a feeling that v8s were obsolete and we should all get used to 6s and 4s. Remember the 6 cylinder stock cars and Corvette racer with a V6 turbo? There was always a feeling of having to get used to less engine in those times.

Devore's was ahead of his time and created an awesome car that had no comparison. If you would had mentioned a 400 ci OHC v8 racing engine before that you would have been regarded an impractical dreamer.

This car is historic. I should be appreciated and kept care of.
Damn, that color is awesome too!

Just got an email from the seller:

He has the original engine (parts) but the block went south. Has a couple of blocks to go with it.

Wow, out of nowhere. Does anyone know who this guy is and how in the world he got THAT car of all 928s? That's a story I'd like to hear. There have been multiple threads over the years wondering where it ended up and now it just pops up on ebay. My finger is twitching over the Place Bid button, would I love to become the caretaker of that car. Hey Mike, if I get it how would you like to help restore the engine?

Just wow.
