New to Rennlist: Need a reliable, porsche 928 specialist in the Los Angeles Area
Hello everyone,
Right now, I need someone to help me with installing a new transmission fluid container, flushing out the trransmission, add new fluid, and doing a general check-up/inspection of my 1983 Porsche 928s. It's been sitting, not used because of a slow transmission fluid leak for a year now and it's killing me.
I had a bad experience with my last mechanic and would love to either get recommendations or introductions to a new 928 specialist.

Further Research
I committed a general forum sin and didn't do a search for my topic before asking for help. So the results of my search are as follows:
I would most likely take my 83 928s to Greg Brown, but that seems like overkill as it's a small job and I would love to save money in this recession. So someone local (close to downtown LA), good and affordable would be much appreciated. So if there are any independent wrenches looking to help me out, please send your info or recommendation my way.

Just go to Precision. If you use a mechanic instead of doing it yourself, there is no reason to go elsewhere if you live in Socal or even beyond.
Honestly, I have only found a FEW (as in I can count them on less than one hand) men in this country that I would allow to touch my car. I do my own work, but sometimes I need something, or need something accomplished that I know I can't do. The only people that I know I could trust, from personal experience, or viewing the work done for others, is Greg B. or Todd. There may obviously be others, but I have no experience with them.

Hi Vin a point of interest , since your a member click on user CP at the top then click on edit signature you can then add your car info so it will post when you post a thread.
Also if you have not already done so read the FAQ at the top of the page its a lot to read but you may get more info about what to do toe fix your car

Greg is great. Worth the trip to get this and all your other issues cured all at once.
I also know Jules Hauer in Van Nuys, also good but not in the same league as Greg.
One advantage of going to Greg is that you can drop the car off and get a ride to the Metrolink station for the ride home to L.A.

Hey everyone,
I'm glad I signed up... And there appears to be only one answer, and that is to tow my baby to Greg's place. Thanks everyone, and I'll let you know how it turns out.
*Dr. Bob, can you do me a favor and add me to the Socal928.com site? Are you running that site? I've tried to sign-up for it a few times but can't get a response. I'd love to be a part of that community as well.

Be prepared for a nice bill to see the good doctor. He ain't free. Your jaw will drop when you see his shop....Never seen so many interesting things there in my life. There are stories upon stories in there.
