Do you get nods from other Porsche owners?

Haha, never had someone is a Porsche do anything, but... when I was cruising down First Street in Jacksonville Beach the other day..
Some 12 year old kid and his buddy walking in from the beach yelled, "Cool car man!" and gave me a big thumbs up. That's the best... cat calls from future 928 owners, smiles.

I saw a guy last Sunday in front of me driving his 80ish 928 and I turned off on the same road as him and we talked for about 10 min. There are only three or 4 928's in my town so it was nice to meet a new guy and talk with him. Very friendly and said "I thought that was a 928" in his rearview mirror coming up on him.

The NA Miata guys have a mod where they jumper a diode (i'll get the specifics on it) into the headlight circuit that allows them to do the flash at each other with the headlights - lets them pop up (they come up quite quickly) flash, and then pop down. They call it the Miata Wave.
Am I just unfamiliar, or can that be done with the 928 as well???

Well, when you pull back on your blinker stalk (ie. pull it towards you) your fog/driving lights flash...no need to get the headlights to come up and down to get a flash with a 928. Of course I say that...my '81 will not do that for some reason, but all the others do.

Coolest nod and thumbs up I ever got was from an older gentleman driving a Ferrari 550. Happened on the 405 North headed out of Orange County. He was blasting up the left lane and actually slowed before continuing on his way. Probably a former 928 owner.

Last 2 week- I parked in front of the government Forestry department office to attend some talk. When the talk finish- I can see from the window- some office staff looking at my 928 & some international university student(who were on the educational trip) pose pics with my car.hehe.. So funny...

I have been out of the Porsche circle for a few years and recently re-joined again with a Boxster. When I had a 944 in the late 80's early 90's, it seemed very few 911's would wave or flash their lights back at me. But usually, 944s, 924s, and 928S drivers would wave or flash lights. I figured it was we were not part of the air cooled crowd and "unworthy." But I used to see a 928S4 regularly on some local roads and we would always exchange a wave (usually as he passed me on a 3 lane highway).
I've not had the Boxster long enough to see if anyone waves or flashes lights at me. But I always wave or flash lights if I see a P car.
Other car experience: Years ago I was riding in a 1980's Ferrari cruising along at an average speed when a group of guys in their 20s driving a much newer 3 series BMW pulled along side. They threw us the finger and then they sped off. Then last year when driving a 328 Ferrari on a highway, a much newer 360 Ferrari pulled along side. The driver gave me a big thumbs up, I waived and he rocketed away at an insane speed.
Overall, if people waive or don't, I don't let it bother me. I just enjoy nice cars and I particularly appreciate vintage sports cars that look like they have been well cared for. I know how much effort it takes to keep older cars looking their best.
Best regards,
Dino

I was driving in D.C. when a 911 cabriolet drove by. I circled around to go 'play' since I didnt have anywhere I needed to be right away
We ended up at a light together and lets just say the two people in the 911 seemed a bit surprised. We couldnt run long as it was a small city street but it was enough that everyone smiled and waved as I turned off.
Driving in NYC I didnt see any other pcars but waiting at many a light I saw many heads turn, especially the younger 30 something crowd with a few approving nods as well as a few 'what IS that new car' looks.
always fun.
