(fixed title to reflect that it's a GT, not a GTS.)

Doh! I just realized that couldn't be right. Maybe a '92 produced in late '91? Otherwise it must be a GT(?).

Bronto,

You have been around here long enough to know this already... NO GTS's for the US market till model year 1993! Rest Of World (ROW) got the GTS as a 1992 model.

Terry my guess on your info from PCNA is that somehow the "4" got cut off. You see some PCNA references to GTS4 or S4GT from time to time. So in the first example if for some reason the "4" gets appended you end up with GTS...STUPID!

Unless you have a 5.4L under the hood, beautiful flared fenders on the back and aero mirrors on the door from the factory (and more than likely at body colored rear wing from the factory) it ain't no GTS boys!

Also that guy is nearly $10k to high even if his car is NICE! If it is VERY, VERY, VERY NICE... like almost NEW (though with 76k miles I kind of doubt it) then he might only be $8k to high. Hope he likes that car a lot (or finds a REAL SUCKER) because he will be keeping it for a VERY LONG TIME at that price! $24,900 for a '91 GT...nearly fell out of my wheelchair!

James , I know my car is a 91GT not a GTS , it just strange that PNA refered to it in several letters as a 91GTS . And HANG ON ! I paid 24,500.00 for my car 2 years ago , and am still happy . For what these cars are its a bargin. Terry

Terry,

I agree with you there...considering the cars were pushing $90k when new we are sure able to get a lot of REALLY NICE CAR for the money!

I didn't say your car was not worth $24.5k two years ago...heck it might even STILL be worth that, but man, that is ALL THE MONEY for any 928 that isn't a GTS! That is all I was saying.

Terry, if that is your '91 on the track in that pic, be careful...can't tell you how many '90/'91 GT's I have seen blown up on track! I have never seen an S4 5spd go though...all we can figure is something about that 2.20 rear end or maybe there was a material change somewhere in the late GT's that made them not like track work...I don't know but I have seen GT's that were driven by more advanced and capable drivers go down hard more than a few times. Auto-X and DE's.

James , the car in my avatar is my very modified 81 , it was running a 450 rwh 16V 5.8L motor . I have nearing compleation a 6.5L 32V for it . The GT has run 3-4 DE day flawlessly , except for the brakes , they have since been upgraded to GTS fronts. Terry

Funny, I thought that it was a pretty good deal, for a '91GT...Of course, I think that '90/'91GT is the best 928 the factory built and the whole thing went slightly downhill with the GTS....

I haven't seen too many '91GT's come up for sale, lately. How many of them were actually made/imported?

Yeah, but my primary interest is in the OB's. I just saw GTS and 5 Speed and thought "wow" and posted it. Didn't think too much about the year at first.

Terry,

That '81 must be a BEAST! Just don't hit the red line with every shift in the GT or get to high sustained RPM's in corners and you will probably be ok tracking it. I swear I have heard of WAY more GT's failing at the track than any other 928's...

Greg, from an engine perspective with the GT cams you might be right, but I can't imagine ANYONE spending $25k on a '91 GT when for a few K more they could probably get a GTS in pretty good condition but with a few more miles. The GTS is the best looking 928 made...hands down and by MILES IMHO. YMMV!

If the car is fully maintained and mechanically up to date I think the price is right on. If records aren't available a PPI and visual inspection will determine what the real sale price should be.

James I agree, the GTS is definitely the most beautiful 928 produced but I would argue that the GT and S4 have better reliability records which does add value to a buyer IMHO. Reliability concerns may be a reason the higher mile GTS's aren't holding their value as strongly but I'm not sure. BTW, this isn't a knock on the GTS, I would love to own one if I had the means. Worth every penny!

Consider the source here. PCNA outsources their call center and the folks answering the phones are compeletly clueless.... They wouldn't know a 928 from a 356! The confusion probably comes from the fact that the early 1993 models may have been built as early as late 1991 (first invoice date on a 1993 928 GTS is Feb 1992) and the overlap probably throws them..... Is your GT a late build for the 91MY?

higher mileage GTSs haven't held value simply due to the higher miles not unlike other high mileage older 928s. I'm not aware there are/were reliability issues with any late model 928s - provided of course they were properly maintained.

Guys, the ad says "GT" what's all the fuss? Maybe he corrected it since you saw it. SO, $25K for a nice GT isn't outrageous. A little high maybe, depends on his timeframe or maybe he's a little high, he is in Denver, you know.
