There are two Corvette clubs in OKC. One is the show and shine group, the other is the race and drive group.

Ha ha ah, I had several occasions to run Porsches in their racing events. It's kind of humorous. Before anyone posts any times everyone is all friendly with the Porsche guy. When I start posting really fast times in my Porsche, they all get real anti-social. Then, when they asked about my 928 GT and found it only had a 5 liter they pretty much would turn an walk off.

The Corvette friend from work says they are really serious about their racing and is always telling me about the "illegal" hot rod tricks he is doing to get more power. I tell him he will get better results if he spend that time and money on suspension and handling, then he calls me a poor winner.

When I was young, I really wanted a Corvette. That was when the 928 was 2.5 times as expensive as the Corvettes. But I soon found out the Vettes were such flimsy fiberglass garbage. Just the rattling from merely closing the door turned me off completely. I would not drive one if it is given to me for free. To each his own. Different strokes.

As one of those "track" Corvette guys, most of the Corvette folks I meet on the track tell me what they have done to their cars. Most have done the head, cam, and exhaust mods to make big horse power. To me it doesn't make sense; hp is not the weak point of the Vette (when compared to Porsches). It is the brakes a suspension. The cars are too soft in stock form. Big dive under braking. The brake calipers spread quickly.

The 928 is soft too but doesn't dive under braking as much. Of course the 928 brakes are excellent.

His response:
"You don't stock window trim for a 63, tell the guy to bend over cause he's going to be paying out the *** for that stuff. Like over $3,000!!"
