Key questions
I have only one key for my car. A locksmith in UK is advertising duplicates by number or photo on Ebay. Cost is $30 + $7.50 shiping. Seems reasonable as I paid $20 ten years ago at a locksmith in Portland (no such place where I live now). They will refund if key does not work.
I believe my key is the "short" one, ie won't operate the alarm. Can someone confirm from the pic below?
The shop says I need key # or long key for a pattern. Unless per chance my key is "long" afterall, it appears I will be without alarm.
The key I have works ignition and driver door only. I will be re-keying hatch and passenger door soon.
All info/suggestions appreciated.

Sure looks like the short one to me. Lock car from outside with door open, then get in and try to start it. If it starts, you have the short one... If it just cranks and never fires, you are in luck.
BTW, I love Mirror Pond Ale!

use www.keys4classics.com in Australia. Sent a picture of both sides of your key and about 5 days later you will receive the key. Works every time and excellent service.

+1 on keys4classics
They can read short or long keys from a good photo of both sides, very prompt, and they also have the steel Huf blanks so you can use a Porsche lit key-head. (Huf key costs extra over the bronze Silca generic blank - its steel tho')
Worked perfectly on all locks - better actually than the key I took a photo of to send them.
This reminds me - I need to get a new key for my '87 - now that it all works from one key I want a key that looks the part

And where do I get the lit key head? And are tho OE Red/Black blanks still available?
So far only one vote that it is the short key. Everyone agree?

Jim, that's a long key. And +1 on "Keys 4 Classics" in Aus, they did a great job for us.
P.S. Lose the picture!
