Thanks Chuck for all you do. The 928 Registry was a great research source for me before I bought my car. I still refer to it often.

Brent, Kevin, Don and Ivan thanks so much for your support. Gary, your generosity has left me speechless! Every time I see your avatar I miss that car. I'm glad it went to you. Thank you.

All totaled you guys have stepped up and covered nearly a year's worth of costs associated with hosting the 928 Registry. The 928 community is truly a unique group. Thanks guys!

Frank, I'm not sure what happened regarding your car. If you've sent me stuff (or anyone else for that matter) prior to September 11, 2009 I did not get it b/c that was my last full update and everything I had was posted..... If you've sent it since, it will be up in the next couple weeks.

Ha, lucky me! I sent my last ones on Sept. 12th. I just missed the last update but I should be good to go for the next one.
Thanks again, Chuck.

Chuck,

I would like to help out with the 928 Registry if you like. One of my companies does web design for large commercials with AJAX and open platforms. I can ask them to give the 928R a new modern look and feel with interfaces, etc... let me know what you think and we can work out a plan..

Another group I participate in that is VERY MUCH like this one is the Martin Logan Owners Club forum. Same type of group! Really tight but more than willing to let new folks in and everyone is wiling to give whatever they can to help the group as a whole or even individuals within the group! AWESOME!

Khaled, this is a very generous offer. I will send you a PM to discuss further. Remember, you are dealing with a website functional illiterate so we need to keep it simple.....

I would like to have the site to have a flashier look and also be capable of letting owners add their own cars w/o giving up too much security...

If major update is due please include ROW cars also. Maybe spread admin work around so it will not be burder to you alone.

Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner! Great idea! Would be great to see where the cars are as well besides basic VIN and pics.

Khaled - very generous offer.

I agree too however, as much as I do not want to make this about the $ and as generous as several have been since this topic has come up it has been 8 years (not counting the 4-5 years prior when I was gathering information/cars b/f the site went online) where I have been 100% responsible for the financial side of the website. This has been a labor of love and the potential size of the website by adding ROW 928s could make the costs considerably greater and I don't think I'm ready to make that commitment.

I've always steered away from the idea but, ......I suppose it could be made into a "member" site where there is a cost to join/register/sell?

Hi Chuck - What I liked about the comment was that others may be able to help administrate the information on the site. It may not make a lot of sense to have a fully open free for all site where anyone could edit the info. But if you had a few people with rights to update info then you might get a lot of help through them.

Whatever the result, remains the same, has more bling, etc., I think there should be a contribute button on each web page. I suspect most people did not know or notice previously.

Would be great to have a site that could be WW repository and where the admin load was distributed as well.

I quite like the system as is. A trustworthy guy, entering and overseeing all data assures usable info for all.

I agree a "facelift" would be nice but making it an open "free for all" for everyone might compromise data integrity in a database that I feel is vital to the marque.

Just my $.02
